Sanyo's Superbright PLC-ET30L projector actually is really bright
Presumably ensuring that no one views Sanyo as hypocritical, the company's Superbright PLC-ET30L actually can throw up a fairly recognizable image even in a well-lit room. Featuring an SXGA+ (1,400 x 1,050) resolution, a 1,300:1 contrast ratio and a remarkably high 4,200 ANSI lumen rating, this PJ was undoubtedly designed to function in classrooms and boardrooms (or living rooms) that just can't avoid ambient light. Additionally, Sanyo's introducing the lower-spec'd PLC-XT21/L, which offers up an XGA (1,024 x 768) resolution, 1:000:1 contrast ratio and 4,000 ANSI lumens. Both newcomers to the T series line support wired networking and emit just 35dB of fan noise, but being priced at $6,495 and $4,995 (respectively), the duo is most definitely cut out for the corporate card and not your own.

Nice...my wife would love one. How do i convince her that she doesn't want a projector to watch movies? They are for presentations, right? Please, someone help me... :)

Nah,
Its all about the bigscreen movies and TV, this is a touch expensive though. you can grab cheaper ones for far less cash.

Brian... Are you serious. Every guy I know would give anything for their wife to say "Honey can we get a super bright bad ass projector for the house so that we can have a media room and throw a 100 inch screen on the wall... and then have all our friends over for football and basketball games..please...please"
What planet are you from man

I wonder how long the bulb lasts and how much it is to replace?

That's awfully bright! At that brightness I wonder how long the bulb lasts... and how much it costs to replace.

This would be good for sports bars and pubs. For a home that is too bright and the contrast ratio sucks. 7500:1 is the minimum ratio acceptable for a HD home setup.
The thing with projectors is the blackest blacks can only be as good as how dark your room is. And with a projector that bright, you will have a lot of ambient light reflecting from the screen and making the room brighter.
j_g_puff @ Apr 15th 2008 12:54PM
Why not just project it against a black screen?

Why do some really low end projectors cost more than the high end? It looks like this unit costs about as much as you could get a unit for, that is displaying 10,000:1 Contrast Ratio, opposed to 1,300:1. Is there something special about the higher priced, lower contrast projectors?
