Cool Boy handheld gaming system is anything but
Shamelessly attempting to rip off a plethora of yesteryear's gaming handhelds all at once isn't a new trick or anything, but you'd expect the creators of the Cool Boy to at least conjure up a name with some inkling of originality, right? Nevertheless, the portable, um, system features a 2.4-inch color display, gets juiced from a trio of AAA cells and even includes a video out port for taking the sweet handheld action to the 13-inch CRT. Of course, the thing only works with Cool Boy Mega Pack game cartridges, which means that even the homebrew crowd is likely out of luck here. But hey, you can get 120 sure-to-be-riveting titles in a single cart for just $7.99. Any takers? Anyone? Okay.

Sudo @ Apr 17th 2008 4:15PM
DO WANT.
CUBSWILLWIN @ Apr 17th 2008 5:16PM
they forgot to ad another T at the end of the last word. Or they did a horrible mistake my forgetting to add the word cool.
mymaclife @ Apr 17th 2008 5:53PM
A vocabulary perhaps?
Charles @ Apr 17th 2008 7:14PM
I don't understand the negativity in the Engadget article because I want one as well. I'm all up for a bit of playability instead of the crap that makes up 90% of the games market these days. With 120 games there's bound the be a few good ones and for $44.44 for the system, 120 game cartridge and free airmail shipping it seems seemed worth a try so I've ordered one.
Tim @ Apr 17th 2008 4:16PM
apparently it plays madden, so ya might as well pick one up.
Bamboo @ Apr 17th 2008 4:29PM

Aimless and pointless........similar to your comment, right?
frank gruger @ Apr 17th 2008 4:44PM
Frm what I recall from my visit to china these were available for about $30. However the controller and screen are just that... the brains are in the carts... system on a chip.
phanbouy @ Apr 17th 2008 4:46PM
120GAME IN1

Dan Davis @ Apr 17th 2008 4:58PM
It's impossible to go wrong with "120 GAME IN1"
David Landrum @ Apr 17th 2008 4:49PM
What, no Doom joke yet?
teej @ Apr 17th 2008 4:59PM
Nah...they're too busy blending.
farfisa @ Apr 17th 2008 4:52PM
So... it's not a boy?
TavisJohn @ Apr 17th 2008 7:56PM
Oh it's a boy, but it has no game!
BigTeebo @ Apr 17th 2008 4:55PM
This looks exactly the same as the OneStation I own, only that has a proper d-pad. I bought it for $30 with a 99-in-1 cart, all Famicom games. So far it is the best famicom pirate cart Ive ever used with a minimum of knockoff games & duplicates. Wish I could find more games for it.
CM @ Apr 17th 2008 4:56PM
I used to get pirated Game Boy cartridges that have 200 games in 1 etc. but in actual fact, there were really only 16 games in there. The other 184 were the same games with different titles like "Jump Man" which really is just the same Super Mario game that was in the first 16 titles.
Methinks it's the same with this..
FrisbeeBen @ Apr 17th 2008 4:56PM
If the price is right, and it blends whilst playing doom then yes, i'll take it.
Lupo @ Apr 17th 2008 6:02PM
while im a firm believer in drinking smoothies while gaming i doubt doom would be fun with the wiimote
YoMomma @ Apr 17th 2008 5:04PM
wiill it play crysis?
phanbouy @ Apr 17th 2008 5:06PM
so let's see... 100% of your comment history is apple flame baiting and doom jokes.
stay in school, kid.
Joe @ Apr 17th 2008 6:37PM
Yeah dude, how many times are you going to drop the "Will it play Crysis?" or "Will it play Doom" line..
Judging by your profile it looks like you've already done it dozens of times.. time to give up that joke don't you think?
And don't go back to "Will it blend" either - you've worn that one out too.
Reader @ Apr 17th 2008 7:24PM
It's hard to make original comments when you're eleven, give him a break.

"2.4-inch color display" Lets hack it! when they hit ebay for 5$ a piece they may make a prime candidate for some hacking fun. bet it uses generic parts and driver board that should make things easier
