HTC spy shot reveals handful of new phones
Apparently, HTC is having a little trouble keeping people with cameras out of its offices, as evidenced by this totally great spy shot of a what appears to be a bunch of (or two) new phones. We're familiar with quite of few of these devices, like the TyTn II, Touch Cruise, and Touch you see in the upper row, but things get a little stickier down below. Save for that P3470 that's second from left, we have no clue what those slick looking square numbers are. The far left model and the far right might be the same device, but its hard to tell. It also looks like all the devices in this picture are using Windows Mobile, but we're holding out hope that maybe the model on the far right boots Android... and soon.

Update: So we figure that one of the two on the right is likely the MDA compact IV for T-Mobile, although that still doesn't explain the generous QWERTY board depicted over there on the left. Can't you just feel the excitement building? Thanks, Marios!

Those 3 unknown devices on the bottom row look a lot alike. Could it be... the HTC Dream?
Derk @ Apr 20th 2008 2:14PM
Now how did my name get ****'d up?
Derk Kooi @ Apr 20th 2008 2:34PM
Hmmm, the phone that is on the bottom row (second from the right) seems to be running Manila, the new touch interface and I guess the same goes for the left one on the bottom row.
Derk Kooi @ Apr 20th 2008 2:41PM
Yep, the phone on the bottom left is indeed running HTC Manila (new touch interface for WinMo) and so is the phone on on the second from left, check out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2073639 and then the right picture on the first row, it looks A LOT alike.
(Moderator: Feel free to merge my comments and change my name to Derk, lol.)

ARGH....
A dream will be when a company finally takes the initiative to put one of those freaking Nvidia APX 2500s into a product.
Seriously, I was so in love with the photos and demos of that thing from Barcelona, and after that there has been no news on the thing... not one drop.
:-(
Ike Turner @ Apr 21st 2008 5:34AM
They are coming in 2009 with the launch of Windows Mobile 7.
Downlod the FAQ over at nVidia's site:
http://www.nvidia.com/docs/IO/50686/APX2500FAQ.pdf
TareX @ Apr 21st 2008 8:10AM
@ ByronGman
I know exactly what you mean. The APX2500 is unbelievably powerful. However, they did say the 1st phone to sport this chip won't arrive before 18 months.
What I really want to see in the HTC Dream is TAT's Cascades UI. Unbelievable APX-like UI. Too bad stupid motorola licensed it for its Android phone which we will likely see in the next millenium.
zsxzsx @ Apr 21st 2008 2:38PM
Well, the one of the mobile-review forum moderators says that the one on the lower left is the HTC Raphael (TyTN II sucessor), while the two on the right are an HTC Raphael variant (WinMo Pro) but with the Touch-Dual slide up SureType keyboard, and an HTC Diamond (WinMo Standard).

KEROLiUKAS @ Apr 20th 2008 2:12PM
Those look sweet, can't wait, let's hope their Androids!
7on @ Apr 20th 2008 2:16PM
they are?
Jason @ Apr 20th 2008 5:29PM
I highly doubt they will be Android. Most likely Windows Mobile 6.1
Johan S @ Apr 20th 2008 6:45PM
the phones look like they are all QVGA which is extremely inconvenient for full html browsing.
How lame.
HunterXI @ Apr 20th 2008 2:15PM
Ladies and Gentlemen, there ARE enough phone models in the world... :)
athousandleaves @ Apr 20th 2008 8:00PM
WRONG!
There can never be enough models, how did you end up on engadget?!
Jagannath A @ Apr 20th 2008 2:17PM
the first row is all present models and the second row is their successors I guess
p.s. dont call me captain obvious :D
Syphon Filter @ Apr 20th 2008 2:20PM
ooo, good call...
Phoenix @ Apr 20th 2008 3:58PM
The exception is having the Pharos under the Touch Cruise, the Pharos is a much cheaper, lower spec'd model.
Dave @ Apr 20th 2008 10:19PM
you mean that and the fact that there are two TyTn II's in the first row...
anyways I hope that the TyTn II still has the tilt feature, it's become sooo much more useful than i thought it ever would be.
nonamo @ Apr 20th 2008 2:17PM
...and they all look crap!
hrt @ Apr 20th 2008 2:17PM

Syphon Filter @ Apr 20th 2008 2:19PM
Awesome,
I know a lot of people don't like HTC but they're definitely my manufacturer/device of choice. Really looking forward to seeing what their new devices have to offer.
JAmerican @ Apr 20th 2008 2:19PM
Is it me or is the one on the right NOT using the standard HTC 2.8" cramped 320x240 screen??
peshue @ Apr 20th 2008 2:20PM
They look slick, but squared off corners aren't very friendly to pockets.
Homeboy @ Apr 20th 2008 2:26PM
Android running on the bottom left one???
CUBSWILLWIN @ Apr 20th 2008 2:33PM
thats a good call. That's also probably why it's the only one on the bottom that'd off. It is very similar to the dream fan made concepts. I'd put my bet on that one as an android phone
PeterF @ Apr 20th 2008 2:38PM
looks like WM actually
CUBSWILLWIN @ Apr 20th 2008 3:05PM
Oops. I thought you meant the one on the right. The one on far right is my bet for android
Zap @ Apr 20th 2008 2:33PM
ooooo
**sit eagerly waiting for May 6th**
Kris S. @ Apr 20th 2008 2:39PM
Some of those pretty smexy...
iofthestorm @ Apr 20th 2008 2:40PM
Hope one of them is Android, and coming soon.
Ethan @ Apr 20th 2008 2:43PM
The lower left phone doesn't look like it has a WM-style or TouchFlo interface; I'm betting it's something Dream-related.
Ike Turner @ Apr 20th 2008 2:52PM
HTC TouchFlo 2.0 (3D and VGA) aka Manilla .
Windows Mobile 6.1
Derek @ Apr 20th 2008 2:46PM
The one on the second to the right on the bottom is running the new Manilla interface...
CHICKEN!!! @ Apr 20th 2008 2:59PM
on the web site "colorware" it mentions a special edition iphone... wat is that... : / im confused.... u can find it there under the "company" tab, then go to "now in color" .... it says its comming april 28th.... does any1 no wat it is??? (sorry its not related to the post...) : /
Marios Socratous @ Apr 20th 2008 3:05PM
I know what the lower right is... :p
There was a very very similar phone in msmobiles.com report from CeBIT.
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/7172.html
"Finally let's take a look at T-Mobile MDA compact IV, that is the first Windows Mobile phone made by HTC, that offers VGA display in pocket-size case (combined with HSDPA, GPS and 4GB of Internal memory):"

Phoenix @ Apr 20th 2008 4:00PM
I'd say that's second from the right... the one on the right maybe the fabled up/down slider version.
Sam Zebian @ Apr 20th 2008 3:06PM
Let's hope for some DRIVERS this time HTC...
saq @ Apr 20th 2008 3:14PM
That bottom left device has a LOT more buttons than those of the Wizard genealogy have been sporting. This is kind of exciting.
Cellenin @ Apr 20th 2008 3:42PM
I wonder if Android can run on the one on the left?
john @ Apr 20th 2008 4:00PM
I'd like to see Android on the bottom far left one, as well.
john @ Apr 20th 2008 4:02PM
Oh, and, bottom far-left and bottom far-right are NOT the same phone (as the article speculates). One has square corners (far right), and one has round corners (far left).
gareth @ Apr 20th 2008 4:08PM
Wow This gets me pretty excited. Its been a slow news month at Engadget.
I agree btw, I believe the phones on the far left and right are the same phone.
Phoenix @ Apr 20th 2008 4:44PM
Nah, they're not. The screen edgings are different.
Rich @ Apr 20th 2008 4:18PM
Such a grainy photo - it could only have been taken with a HTC phone!
HunterXI @ Apr 20th 2008 8:10PM
Or anything made by Motorola, ever.
Dave @ Apr 20th 2008 10:23PM
not true, my mpx220 took WAY better pictures than my startrek ever did
Sam Zebian @ Apr 20th 2008 4:40PM
Wait... Couldn't the guy use one of the phones in the pic to take a more decent picture??? My HTC TyTn II (same as pictured in the top left) has a 3mp camera... couldn't he just use that...?
Chris @ Apr 20th 2008 5:22PM
He was probably using an iphone
DaIntellectual @ Apr 20th 2008 4:43PM
HTC Diamond replacing the Touch & HTC Raphael aka Tytn III replacing the Tytn II. Both are shown and both should be announced on May 6, hopefully and both with VGA displays.
Josh @ Apr 20th 2008 5:02PM
So... which ones pictured are the Diamond and Raphael?
