Targus unveils NXT-based Portable Speaker Book
We've seen some far-out portable speakers, but Targus is keeping it simple with the upcoming Portable Speaker Book. The folding speakers feature NXT flat-panel Balanced Radiator drivers, and can be powered by either four AAs or USB power. We've no word on pricing, but we wouldn't expect to break the bank when these hit the UK sometime this summer.

So... How do I put it my laptop? The speakers won't, like, stretch to fit my widescreen.
mushrooshi @ Apr 21st 2008 7:11PM

Nice... I want some portable speakers for my laptop... any word about the specifications?

Chances are they will sound worse than your laptop's speakers.

LAME. Monster had this same exact design like 5 years ago. I have it still. It worked pretty well for what it is.
It did not have the USB port. It carried audio via 1/8" stereo cable.
DESTOS @ Apr 21st 2008 9:51PM
The USB is just for power, not audio.

I've got cheap (40 ish) nxt logitech speakers from two years ago that work perfectly fine, much better sound than you would expect. IT does pump out stereo fine, as long as your close to the source.

You need to attach the ends of a chinstrap to the side edges of the speakers and wear it like a hat to get any stereo field at all.
It will keep the rain off, though.
