Samsung 750-series Touch of Color LCDs due in May
Following up on the DAPs and BD-Live announcements, Samsung's seen fit to attach prices to its 750 series of LCD HDTVs and their "Touch of Color" frames. At the top end, the 750 ranges from 39.9- to 52-inch sizes, all with 1080p, 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, DLNA network access and 120Hz motion processing for $2,599 - $3,499 when they hit shelves in May. The 650s are already on shelves with 720p or 1080p variations from 19- 52-inch variations, sans-DLNA, but all models include Samsung's Infolink RSS service for news direct to your flat screen. Don't have Ethernet in your TV room? The Wireless LinkStick enables either series to pull down news without those pesky physical connections for $34.99. Probably not worth rioting over, but check the read link for complete specs and prices.

And they can just use the word "touch"... just like that? Apple?
BK @ Apr 23rd 2008 7:03PM
Considering it has nothing to do with touch sensitivity... yes
schmitty338 @ Apr 23rd 2008 7:12PM
Apple? How about all of those other companies that use the word Touch...how dare they! TouchLess-Car washes, for example, thiefs!
How about the HTC Touch, which was released a good 3 months or so BEFORE the iPod Touch...
Please don't forget that the Universe and hence gadgets within it, existed before the all-mighty Apple came into existence....
P.S. I just found out that a person and now company called Webster has been printing the word Touch in its periodicals for over 200 years! Imagine the royalties they will have to pay Apple!!!
(sorry, that's enough as$holish sarcasm for one day....)

@spass
Ignorance? or just selective memory? Either way, remember the HTC touch?
Besides where were you when Apple stole 'iPhone' or ventured into the music business..?

Nintendo's also going to be on their case for infringing on their Gameboy Color Trademark.

Best Buy in Fayetteville Arkansas just got its end-cap display unit of the 46A750.
Save your money and get the 650.
Darkest Daze @ Apr 23rd 2008 8:35PM
That's what I did. It's a great TV.
Ryan @ Apr 24th 2008 9:27AM
I recently purchased a 52A650 and love it. I thought the 'Touch of Color' was going to be extremely noticeable in a well lit room, but we hardly notice it. The picture quality is out of this world, however I'm still tweaking it for video games and movies.
As far as it being network capable for the RSS feeds, weather, etc..., that's really not a big deal to me as I have a laptop, a desktop, or a Wii among other things to get that info.
One thing I will note, I'm not a fan of the remote. The track wheel seems at times too sluggish and other times too fast. Hit or miss for me. But I only use the remote for making changes to the picture, nothing that would make me not buy this TV.
Tim @ Apr 23rd 2008 8:39PM
Future Shop already has them in stock!
Josh Haagen @ Apr 23rd 2008 9:15PM
yup circuit city already has them as well. not a huge difference over the 650 but the 1 GB of internal memory for stuff is pretty cool and it looks cooler than the 650. but that of course doesn't make it worth the extra money for everyone
Brad @ Apr 23rd 2008 9:46PM
I have the 650. Sporting the 120hz refresh rate, 4ms seek time, 50000:1 contrast and 52" at 1080p is a gorgeous TV. Really the only difference between the 7-series and the 6-seris is DLNA - you're better off buying an XBOX360 to do that anyhow.
Either way, the Touch-of-Color generation significantly out-preforms the previous generation, especially in speed and in contrast. It is a really beautiful TV though.
Brad @ Apr 23rd 2008 9:47PM
seek time == refresh rate, my bad.
shoman24v @ Apr 24th 2008 12:04AM
Crap man can't even keep up with TV tech anymore. Every 2 months a new model comes out.
michaelportent @ Apr 24th 2008 12:34AM
God, can these things get any prettier and any farther out of reach for the average consumer? And like shoman24v said, why would i shell out almost 3k for a TV that'll be second-rate in two months?
shoman24v @ Apr 24th 2008 11:04AM
Yeah, I picked up an LN6A550 for $1500 off the internet. Now they have the 650 and 750... sheeeh.
Steve C @ Apr 24th 2008 6:19AM
They are already in the stores and under retail. Circuit City started selling them at $4000 over two weeks ago and is running a sale at $3150 this week. I already have had my 52" delivered by Best Buy at $3050 with free next day delivery and double reward points (about $80 in certificates). Just use some negotiating are you can get a decent deal and walk away with the extra functionality for the same price as the 650. The quality is outstanding by the way except for a little more reflection than I would have liked. I have been a Sony XBR fan for a long time but this makes the XBR4/5 series look bad especially when I got t it cheaper.
Chris @ Apr 24th 2008 8:53AM
I picked up a 52" 650 last week from Amazon. Amazon currently has the 52" for $2500 with free white glove delivery and no tax. This is truly a great deal for a great TV.
eazy @ Apr 24th 2008 12:25PM
750 is already on display at 14th street circuit city in a 52 in size the skinny outer glass gives it an XBR type feel
DaftFunk @ Apr 24th 2008 12:59PM
Your all insane! Why do you need to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on incredibly large tvs whose size approaches the ridiculous. Isn't there better things you can spend your money on? You realize you could buy a used car, support hundreds of children in Africa, probably even support one child in America (for a month or two) on that friggin cash? What possesses you people to spend thousands of your hard earned dollars on monstrously large televisions?
jayxem @ Apr 24th 2008 1:14PM
As an ex-CC employer in HE this is not a lot money for a brand new TV just released. If you think about how much time Americans spend in front of their television compared to anything else it almost seems like a steal if you really think about it. Even if you change your TV every 2 years and get out the door w/ tax, etc.. for $4000 your paying $6 a day too watch TV on one of the best LCDs on the market.
DaftFunk @ Apr 24th 2008 1:24PM
hmmm, or you could support 6 children a day in Africa and have on ridiculously large television...Also, is it not a problem how much time people in America spend in front of their tv? As much as I love television, it is a little excessive.
Ryan @ Apr 24th 2008 4:32PM
Who is to say these individuals (myself included) do not already donate money to charities and organizations throughout the year? If I decide I want to drop $3k on a TV then so be it. It's a free society.
I doubt the $3k I'd send to Africa would even make it there. Look, if the millions and millions in aid that goes to third world countries gets squandered why would I want to send $3k of my hard earned money? To feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Sorry, not going to happen...
JM @ Apr 24th 2008 4:38PM
The way I've always looked at is that the countless hours working too death all day people just want to zone out and watch non-sense. Granted spending 4k as a college student is a little crazy in my eyes BUT I can understand how some people have no problem spending so much when they use Television to relax after long day of work and have the money to spend.
I personally use too sell tv's and never watch TV except for DiscoveryHD & History Channel. I use my Sammy 71 series as computer monitor.
As far as the whole $6 a day on a African child could be said about anything. I don't feel its correlated too spending money on a TV. The amount people spend on houses, cars, TVs, weddings, etc.. which is where people spend the most money will not effect a regular person because they are buying these items for themselves to enjoy. Comparing how much a person decides to spend on a TV and saying all that money you spent could save tons of children.
People work their asses off to enjoy the better things in life. If they want to spend the money they've earned on something nice don't trash them for it. In the end its up to the person if they want to give money or donate to a cause.
Jay @ Apr 25th 2008 11:05PM
from above:
Ummm...this is a TV discussion board. Not a save the children infomercial.
But I would like to say something. What about the starving Americans? Why do you focus on "starving kids in Africa?" Do you not care about your own country?
We shell out billions of dollars a year to other countries, (500 billion to Iraq) but do jack for our own country. Gas is insane and we are fighting a war where we should be able to control the price!
And in an unrelated topic, Go Hillary!
peace out cub scout.
joejoe @ May 25th 2008 10:54PM
I seen this at futureshop yesterday, totally kick XBR4 ass, can TV picture gets any better I wonder? The 46" was selling for CAN$3199, the store guy said they may do a little better once I am ready to display my plastic VISA......drooling at the moment. Now there is one more reason to become a couch potato with a twofour. hahaha.
