Samsung intros the S2 'Pebble' and slim S3 portable media players
Samsung -- known for dropping a PMP or two on the public -- has introduced a couple of new media players sure to have you tearing up and snapping open piggy banks. First up is the S2 "Pebble" player which we saw a little while back, a tiny, rounded DAP with 1GB of storage on-board that can tune in your favorite FM stations (they still have those, right?) as well as play back MP3, WMA, and OGG files. The S2 comes in green, purple, red, and black / white, which should make it easy to match up with your outfit. The other new offering is the S3, a 4GB or 8GB full-function (yet slim) device which sports a 240 x 320 display, plays MP3, MPEG4, and WMA files, includes an FM tuner, flash games, and comes in green, red, blue, or black / white. Both models will be available in June, no word on price. Stay tuned for a thrilling hands-on experience with both new models.

Just make sure you disconnect your headphones first

People should just buy Cowon players. That's all people need.

No AAC/MP4? No way.
Must be meant for the UNIX crowd. They like old technology and codecs.

If I was Creative, now will be a good time to sic my lawyers at Samsung. After all, it's not like the Zen Stone's sales are astronomical by any means, so might as well milk a little cash out of litigation.
Stone vs. Pebble...who will win?

If I was Creative, now will be a good time to drop all these music players. A rip to their online store shows about 13 different players. Time to cut back to 3 solid units in different capacities. Seems like they keep coming out with new music players every 3 months and though it seems that way with Apple, they can because they are the top dog. When the other manufactures do it, it always feels as if they are playing catch up.

@carson:
Unlike other manufacturers of players, they continue to sell their old (and technically replaced) units. At least everyone still gets a choice.

A whopping 1GB of memory? WOW!!! I can load all my favorite songs!

1GB of memory is cheap.
I got my father a 1GB Sansa thing for him to use while working.
Too bad the thing uses AAA batteries and I'm not buying new batteries every other day, because that's what we had to do.
So I'm on the lookout for a new PMP for him.
1GB is nice. I'm not buying the pebble thingy for the fact that a clip would be much appreciated, but it's still nice. I also like how it has an FM tuner. He works outside and loves the radio, it's not a bad tradeoff for him.
If it had a clip, I'd buy it hands down. Provided it was also a reasonable price, which Samsung has been nice enough to offer. My P2 keeps me very satisfied.
I'm assuming that these are going to be budget players, considering the T9 harbors bluetooth and looks identical, while remaining slimmer.
