Xbox Live up and running, but still having "difficulties"
As you may have noticed, Xbox Live has been a little wonky as of late and, according to Microsoft's latest status update, it looks like it could stay that way for at least a little while longer. While the service itself is apparently "up and running," it seems that anyone matchmaking or using client voice communication may "experience difficulties," which is just a little bit more than a minor issue. No word on a full return to form just yet, but it seems that the folks in Redmond are on the case.

I wouldn't care so much if I didn't have to PAY FOR IT! Sheesh. If an MMO is down, they at least give you free service to compensate for the down time.
Stupid.
Ah, so that was the problem. I just got my xbox back from RROD warranty fix on Monday and I couldn't connect to Live, I thought maybe my settings were hosed since lots of other settings on the console were reset to default (e.g. 480p 4:3 - no thanks!).
This doesn't really make me happy but at least I know it's not something on my end :)
....any you would think that paying $50/yr is supposed to keep this from happening.......no thanx, but id rather keep my FREE psn service...
Apparently, the only requirement for an "Up and running" status is that the XBL servers are plugged in an turned on.
It seems to me that if you're experiencing problems, you don't lead with a line that suggests that everything's fine when reporting your status to paying customers.
Compare to .Mac's status area... this is what XBL *should* look like.

with a ps3 you can!!!!! :)
I figured they were having more problems. I was in the middle of an awesome Hardcore Deathmatch in Chinatown last night when I got booted. Never could reconnect. Today between noon and 1:00 pm PST everything was up and running fine.
Is Engadget reporting that there is nothing to report?
I am a strictly PS3 gamer only but anyone who is here making fun of XBL should go find the article that says Home was delayed and STFU. XBOX fanboys acted like children in that article and now PS fanboys are doing the same in this one, all the while people complain about children ruining their games. Some of you need to take a look in the mirror.
