LeaveMeAloneBox perpetually closes itself, should win some kind of award
We can't say for certain that this is the most pointlessly sophisticated contraption we've ever seen built, but regardless of all that, we dare anyone to deny its greatness. In essence, the LeaveMeAloneBox does nothing more than turn itself off after a pestiferous human flips it on -- time, and time, and time again. Really, the beauty of this thing can only truly be seen in video, so click on through for what's likely to be the best 29 seconds of your day.

Did we just witness the birth of a new internet meme?
Hardcore @ Apr 24th 2008 12:35PM
Yes..and now its death. Such is the short lived life of an internet meme.
Ghen @ Apr 24th 2008 4:04PM
Observing the birth of a meme leads to its death. Interesting. So the only ones that actually make it are the ones nobody sees coming?
Slavetolust @ Apr 24th 2008 11:03AM
And to think, some people are starving in this world. Next up, this "inventor" should invent a box that fires a bullet back at the creator. Where is natural selection when you need it.
Philantropystt @ Apr 24th 2008 11:09AM
Slavetolust: Why are u wasting time posting a comment then? Go feed the world!

Id stop trying to piss it off, it might get depressed and devide by zero.
Jimbo @ Apr 24th 2008 11:05AM
I had a toy skeleton that popped out of a coffin and did the same thing, in the old 90's. So this doesn't phase someone as cool as me.
Lowest Ranked @ Apr 24th 2008 11:57AM
What are the old 90s? And more importantly, what where they like?
uka @ Apr 24th 2008 12:05PM
I also had the same skeleton machine, it was a piggy bank, one should put a coin in a button and the skeleton hand will take the coin to the grave... The form factor is the same!
Seriously this LeaveMeAloneBox is a ripoff!!! At least the skeleton we had served a purpose!
ooglek @ Apr 24th 2008 1:33PM
Don't phase me bro!
You used phase when you should have used faze.
spacegravity4me @ Apr 24th 2008 10:53PM
nah dude, i totally get it, the old 90's, last millennium and last century. The new 90's are coming. Hopefully I'll make it to see them! And my grandma had one of those hand bank things. Used to always scare the mess out of me. lol

Well, for starters, Pluto was a planet...
farris @ Apr 24th 2008 11:05AM
I'm pretty sure this is a standard mechanical engineering project. My dad made one some 20 odd years ago.... almost exactly like this.
It's still entertaining to watch though.. I can't quite explain why I'm still watching it over and over.
GackIm Ancient @ Apr 24th 2008 11:07AM
> ...My dad made one some 20 odd years ago...
Lol! So did mine!

He is too smart to build a device that intentionally kills him, natural selection dosent work here.
Cory W. @ Apr 24th 2008 11:13AM

There should be a voice,
"Close ze box"
" S'all right?"
"S'all right!"
Mutant @ Apr 24th 2008 12:36PM
I was wondering how long it would take for someone to bring up that old chestnut.
+1
The_Steven @ Apr 24th 2008 11:06PM
My $.02
Add a light that will be lit when switch is "on", the hand comes out, a recorded voice says: "Do you think electricity grows on trees?*", flips the switch, light goes out, lid closes.
* Or whatever your father said when you left lights on unnecessarily.
XenoX101 @ Apr 24th 2008 11:16AM
This isn't interesting at all, it just moves the hand a few seconds after the trigger is flicked and if the box is already open it leaves it open, what's so special about this? Am I missing something?
barry99705 @ Apr 24th 2008 11:20AM
Sense of humor?
Philippe @ Apr 24th 2008 11:20AM
@XenoX101 Yes
Oskin @ Apr 24th 2008 11:28AM
I hope you're not serious... It's hilarious, made my day!
J @ Apr 24th 2008 12:24PM
No, you're not missing something.
There's nothing really remotely funny or innovative or clever or stupid about it. And I tend to laugh at really silly things. It just is, and is over-rated by the "inventor".
OneLove @ Apr 24th 2008 11:19AM
but can it play call of duty 4?
carmen @ Apr 24th 2008 11:31AM
There is always that one person that just has to ruin the flow of the comment board with something like this.
