LeaveMeAloneBox perpetually closes itself, should win some kind of award
We can't say for certain that this is the most pointlessly sophisticated contraption we've ever seen built, but regardless of all that, we dare anyone to deny its greatness. In essence, the LeaveMeAloneBox does nothing more than turn itself off after a pestiferous human flips it on -- time, and time, and time again. Really, the beauty of this thing can only truly be seen in video, so click on through for what's likely to be the best 29 seconds of your day.

hahahaha That would've probrably killed me! Great idea ;)
Get that thing to put down the toilet seat, and a million guys with whining wives/GF's will praise you.
Keep the bitch whinging I say, unless she wants me to piss on the seat.
the toilet seat has 2 operating positions.. girls... learn how to use the F**king thing...
i'd consider this as as art
This thing needs to be tinted with a light that turns on when the switch is flicked.
When machines finally become self-aware this one is going to be really pissed off
I wish I had a contraption like this for my girlfriend.
LeaveMeAloneGirlfriend!
Wouldn't you want the contraption to do the opposite? I thought the purpose was to get into the box.
Wut? u have a girlfriend? what are u doing on such a site then? i thought this site was only for girlfriendless looser geeks like me.
There's already a system that "turns itself off" -- Microsoft Windows!
Already invented...marriage
I have to have one.

Wonderful!
Tremendous!
Fabulous!
?
Heck, that trick was invented by the Windows Movie maker in my XP laptop; start it up and within 5 seconds it shuts down. Always.
I laughed. I cried. I wasn't sure how this movie would end...great twist...I give it two little freaky looking hands up!
Yes it is stupid... But the question here.... WILL IT BLEND?
I believe it's called a capacitor. Capacitor holds the charge long enough to power the last motion?
Maybe?
It would be sweet to see something similar, but instead of activating when the switch is flipped, have a motion sensor that gets triggered when you reach for the switch. Then have the hand come out and slap you before you can flip it.
love it!

I hope the "inventor" is ready to be sued, since Apple patented this idea already.

The Most Beautiful Machine 2003
Trunk, prosthesis, compressor, pneumatic cylinder
13,4 x 35,4 x 35,2 in.
We should lock cris crocker in that box.
Could I get a leave me alone cubicle or office? If its a cubicle It doesn't have to close the cubicle in any way, just slap people in the face when they enter. The office could just slap them in the face then shut the door.
I'll admit I laughed a little at the video, but it was the comments that got me rolling. Love this site!
I for one welcome our self-deactivating robot overlords. I predict their reign will last only long enough for them to end their reign, though...
check this one out... THIS ONE SHOULD WIN THE AWARD!!!!!!!

Just image a beowulf cluster of these things! :)
Artist Nick Meriwether made a machine that turns itself off as soon as you turn it on. Using a clapper connected to a loop-tape of clapping, you clap, and it claps back, refusing you and turning itself off in the process.
That was funny.
However, I can honestly say that I had better 29 seconds today.
now put that to use in an alarm clock, every time you shut it off it turn itself right back on. =P
LOL this is awesome.
haha...that's annoying!
I want one.. so when i get mad i can try to keep it on... then break something inanimate to make myself feel better haha
any one know where i ca buy one. it is the perfect thing to put on my desk at work. everyone always touches and turns on what ever is out on my desk.
