Rumored Prada II specs surface in purported leaked press release

It looks like those that have been holding out for a new and improved Prada phone from LG could soon be getting their fix, at least if a purported leaked press release is to be believed. According to Taiwan's ePrice, the Prada II is supposedly on track for a release in the fourth quarter of 2008, with it bringing with it a whole host of upgrades that some may say sound suspiciously like a wish list. That includes quad-band GSM, WCDMA 900/2100, and 7.2 Mbps HSDPA connectivity, along with a 5-megapixel camera (with support for video calls), a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen, built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, TV-out, and a microSD card slot. Oh, and a slide-out QWERTY keypad. Needless to say, while we certainly wouldn't bet against a Prada II of some sort coming out this year, it's probably best not to get your hopes up too much about each and every one of those specs just yet.

If it will come to the market in this form, fantastic (way to be LG), it would be the new smart-ish phone to beat (better than the one made by that small Cupertino-based fruit company -- actually, that one has an SDK, hrmm).
In any case, this does indeed seem a little too good to be true. We'll see.
I want that phone. Oh, why do you feel the need to say "needless to say?"
If something is truly "needless to say," then DON'T say it.
Slide-out QWERTY keyboard?
I don't know, doesn't really seem in-keeping with a 'fashion' phone.
damn you sprint and ur great data prices....Stop teasing me GSM.
Yea, I hear ya.
zOMG, this is such a rip-off of the iPhone! WTFBBQ!!!1!!!
had to be one fool to say it...Do you feel special now?
*whoosh*
"WTFBBQ!!!1!!!" That is funny.
Obviously with his (not-very-original) comment of "zOMG" and "WTFBBQ" and the "accidental" early release of the SHIFT tab when pressing the "1" button... I'm assuming JC is 12. Let me inform of you something us big kids know: The LG Prada KE850 was released Feb 2007... while the iPhone was launched late June 2007. So... OMGWTFBBQIMSOORIGINAL!!11!1!11!!!!! PRADA WAS FIRST!!11!1!!
Or I could just be pre-empting the Apple fanboys by making the inevitable false comment.
I guess next time I need to make even more ludicrous typos to get across my sarcasm, because it seems to fly over your heads at high altitude.
It does seem a lil bit too good to be true but if its confirmed within the next few months and a date is given then I'm buying it no matter how expensive that motha is...
My 2 Year contract with Sprint just ended and I'm on a month to month basis with them so I can jump ship anytime.
Although the Samsung Instinct looks pretty nice. But besides that theres the iPhone 2.0 and now the Prada 2 to interest me.
I have an iPhone doesn't that make me pretentious enough already? No Thanks.
srsly. (uninformed) people think Apple's all about fashion but don't puke at all the "designer" crap label-whores buy?
Like those fugly gucci sunglasses with a logo bigger than the actual lenses? Best way to spot an idiot.
Actually, Reid, I'd say the best way to spot an idiot is by the prejudicial content of his posts.
Uninformed people "think" and informed people know. Apple and Gucci are quite comparable in their respective markets. Both offer products that make people think they are better than everyone else. Both convince their customers that they are getting superior quality and customer service. Both focus on the desirability of their product rather than the functionality of them. You may laugh at the Gucci logo on someone's shades but there are just as many laughing at the Apple logo on your electronics. Apple is just as much about image as Gucci is.
who knew that gucci was well known for customer service? well, colored me enlightened now.
Wait, Apple is known for good customer service?
I haven't ever experienced it, but I have only had an iBook, a handful of iPods and now a Macbook Pro that is barely able to run Safari, let alone run Photoshop or Illustrator. Apples response: Re-format and re-instal. Fantastic service, and well worth the extended warranty. I will be able to be told to re-format and re-instal for YEARS to come!
* sigh * another BAD phone
???
Are you being serious?
WiFi and a sliding out keyboard are welcomed features but the resolution leave a little to wish for, especially when HTC Rapael or what ever it's called, is just around the corner. The XPERIA will be tough competition as well.
Exactly! XPERIA = the phone Empire Strikes Back!!

If it's not iphone I don't want it.
not even love? you're a tough customer
I have a hard time imagining a normal guy wanting any gadget with a "Prada" logo on it. But that's just me.
Right on! American muscle all the way! These GD riced out imports. Oh wait, wrong forum.
Just kidding though, I have an iPhone :P
The specs seem to match that new S-GOLD3 chip that is rumoured to power the next iPhone.
The specs actually match many basebands, however, Infineon recently mentioned it had three customers for its S-GOLD3H chip. Samsung has been publicly announced and Apple likely being the second. LG is already a customer for EDGE. Panasonic culd also be the third customer given that they have been using Infineon WCDMA basebands for almost two years already. Btw, the "second" customer is likely to ramp production of its handset in late Q2 according to Infineon...

this comment is as out of place as a hot girl on an engadget board
Give me a browser as good (preferably better with java/flash) than the iPhone and make sure it has great media capabilities and I will replace my iPhone in a heartbeat. This is truly the first phone Ive seen come close to overtaking the functionality of the iPhone.
WQVGA sucks. I mean really. It sucks. I hope it's a typo and the screen is WVGA .. not WQVGA.
Am I the only one who feels these phones get overlooked by nearly everyone because of the "Prada" name? By giving it a designer name like that, it gives me a feeling that it's out of my price range/social class while being for the rich to brag about the brand name.
Kind of like Apple, but in a different social class.
actually the prada costs as much as the iphone (less in some parts) and in many places u get it for free with a contract.. so u dont have to be THAT rich ;)
GPS and a 400Mhz-ish processor running android and I'm all over this like flies on stink!
And it will only cost $999! What a deal...not.
LOL!
If this is even remotely true, Iphone, eat your heart out.
Not that the current phone could even compete with the current prada, or most blackberrys for that matter.
Das ist Uber-Fone?
