Wii Fit now available in Europe
Attention out of shape Europeans: you can now whip your body into a pristine temple of hotness thanks to the Wii Fit. Nintendo's next pile of money has launched all over the UK and EU, so if you've been hankering for a good workout -- but you've been too lazy to actually work out -- now is your chance to shine. The exercise board and accompanying software will cost you £69.99 (around $142) in Britain, or €89.99 for the rest of the Union. If you're waiting for it Stateside, it drops May 19th, and will run you a thrifty $89.99.

A Wii pun?
Wiily?
wii-diculous comment
I see Elmer Fudd has turned to teaching vocabulary lessons after retiring from hunting...
Can't wait for it to drop in Canada on May 18th, and the first good snowboarding/skateboarding game to come out.
lol....this is so friggin stupid, another Wiitarded device.
Flock to it nintendo fanboys, cuz nintendo shall do no wrong in your eyes!
I've been waiting soooo long to be able to work out, wow revolutionary!!!!!!!!! Now I can!!!
I find it hilarious that a person who used:
A Wii pun
The words "fanboy", "cuz", "friggin", and "soooo"
Commas in place of periods
Multiple "!"s at the end of half of his/her sentences
all in the same post is calling anyone else stupid.
Do people STILL think you can have fun the wrong way?
I can think of nothing more stupid than that notion.
'All over the UK and EU'
Erm... you know that the UK is part of the EU, right?
GOT IT :D
Costs $142 in the UK, $89.99 in the USA.
I hate being in the UK.
... and $180 in Norway. Ugh. On the other hand, this certainly makes me look forward to my vacation in the US this summer.
it may cost more but your standard of living is higher and higher wages. So it evens out, just like here in the states, living in Los Angeles is more expensive than IOWA and thus the wages are higher than IOWA
don't forget those european prices also include all sales taxes, while the usa price does not. in uk vat (value added tax) is 17.5% or ireland it's 21%, compared to the usa which has between 8-10%.
Tesco are selling it here for €75 (~£59). Others, like GAME, an Irish video store (Xtravision), and PC World are selling it for €80 (~£64). If you really want to push the boat out, you go to HMV (€95/~£75) or zavvi (€100/~£79).
I got it for my mother (it's her birthday soon) for €72 (~£57) using a 10% loyalty card discount I have in a place called Smyths toystore. That's still US$112, but still...*calculates* if I take 21% VAT off, it works out at US$89! Yay!
robertfoster
is xtravision really an irish chain? we have it here in northern ireland too so i figured it was a UK thing.
and also you did your maths wrong, you took 21% of $112 instead of 21% of $89. just thought i'd point it out :)
$89 -- the Japanese are taking pity on us and our pathetic neo-Ameripeso...
yet again, europe gets screwed over pricewise.
makes a change for in NOT to be JUST the UK
what if i'm a 340lb dude, will the board break when i stand on it ?
You're just out of luck, the maxium weight is 150kg.
I tried it last night a friends place, I thought it was pretty damned fun. I liked the ski-jump game. And one could get it for the health aspect alone. It calculates your BMI and helps you lose weight and stuff through training programs.
well 150kg is 330 pounds, I assume you fluctuate about 7pounds between morning and night, so if you were to take a reduced salt diet for a two or three days, and then weigh yourself in the morning, you'd probably be right at the level you need.
also, I seriously doubt the 330 pounds is a hard cutoff, so yea, give it a shot.
Cant wait to get my stimulus rebate!
I think the reason why Europe is more expensive is because they are not a scoiety of overweight people like the U.S. So Nintendo will sell less in Europe so they jack the price up to make up for the loss in quantity sales.
Just my two cents though
That's not how economics works.
If supply is constant, a lower demand will equal lower prices. That's basically the first law of economics.
Nintendo also probably try to push a HIGHER demand in Europe because of the strong Euro vs. US Dollar.
No. There is only ONE reason Europians are paying more than Americans.........
They have shown time and time again that they'll pay it.
europeans are definatly as lazy as those in the US. infact people in the US are crazy workaholics.
also the France is full of fatty's threatening to take that golden twinkey crown from us in the states.

oh damn, talk about lazy how about a freaking poof read,
"the france" makes me sound like "the tool" that "i am"
freaking a
This thread should be called "Wii now fit for Europe"...
I know why Europe is really paying more, I was just trying to see how many people would be offended by me saying they are fat lazy slobs and try to prove me wrong
:P
The problem there....is that I doubt many would disagree with you.
Weight is a real problem in the U.S.
So you probably didn't anger many people....just depress them.
I'm just curious as to whose dumb idea it was to keep a Fitness video game from the country that needs it the most? I understand Nintendo likes to give Japan alot of first release/exclusive stuff. But come on people, what country has the high obesity rate, and what country is getting Wii Fit last??
USA! USA! USA!
"And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm fat." At least the big N from Japan is blessing us with VERY low prices. People here are too ignorant to appreciate that b/c no matter what, they believe msrp is a ripoff. Except anything Apple related of course.
I just bought it. Should've taken unboxing pics but who cares, really?
I posted a video review of the Wii Fit at: http://techvideoblog.com/cebit/nintendo-wii-fit/
Someone here needs a geography lesson. "The rest of the Union?". Oh, please, when will you learn that the EU is *not* synonymous with Europe?!
The really important point I'm trying to make is that we *don't* have the same currency all over Europe! From Danish Kroner to Czech Koruna, the Euro is only used in a few, large countries.
YAY Europeaan Union ROCKS YAY GO EU
At John Lewis Kingston we sold 90 of them during yesterday and the first two hours of today. That was all the shipment we got, although we have a fair amount more coming from the main warehouse it seems.
And please don't forget Switzerland. I paid 129 CHF. That's 78.42€ or 60.85£ or 119.12$.
Anyone saying Switzerland is an expensive country? I don't think so. And by the way the tax is included.
For everyone who doesn't know, Switzerland is that small spot on the map which is not in the EU where every country around it is.
Where i work we sold out of wii fit in one hour, 48 in total and we are only a small supermarket lol
