No, Nintendo is not dropping the price on the Wii or DS
Waiting for a price drop on the Nintendo Wii or DS? Don't hold your breath. Nintendo's Satoru Iwata told analysts on Friday that there are no price drop plans for the hot-selling units. Iwata insisted this is because Nintendo doesn't want to annoy those who already paid full price, but it's pretty clear that there's also just no need to drop the price on something that's already selling like mad.[Via Joystiq]

Nintendo are a bunch of crooks selling dope to kids. The piece of hardware was already overpriced from the begining.
Initially I wanted to get a wii just to see what the fuss is all about. But after I've heard that there was still no price after 2 friggin years! I couldnt be bothered anymore. I will never buy anything from Nintendo ever again. Have fun playing Mario 2000, Metroid Prime 391 and Zelda 100234 for the 100.000th time. I cant stand to see them mock the consumer like this. I will not support them taking the piss at consumers all over the world. This is just nonsense and a total ripoff. The commited 2 crimes
- selling crack to kids
- ripping customers off over and over again (including all those overpriced accessories and services).
Atleast over a price drop for Europeans who are being ripped off insanely hard that isnt even funny anymore. If I try to sell a pentium3 computer for 1500 euro the cops would be all over the place to book me. Yet this piece of hardware from the year 2002 (!) sells like candy.
your Pentium3 needs a Wiimote to attract insane prices. More than likely it's an office machine too, after its glory years ran through.
The real question is: where is the Wiihabilitation hospital game for the Wii?
Seriously though, why reduce the price on something selling like hotcakes? I don't even know what hotcakes are and I'm using that line. See, we're all addicted.
Kidding again. I don't own a Wii. But apparently many do and more are joining them. I have probably added nothing useful to the conversation.
Sowii.
I don't know what sort of backwards country you live in, but if you tried to sell a Pentium 3 for $1500 today in a place as often lambasted as where I live (Amhurrikaaa), there would be no cops coming after you.
You would just have a shitty computer that no one would buy from you.
wilcoholic, you're nuts. Anybody can make a console that improves on it's graphics. The XBox 360 & PS3 does just that. What the Wii is doing is quite remarkable, getting people that typically don't want to play video games .... playing video games.
No one cares really if the hardware is from 2002 or whatever, the graphics in my opinion aren't bad for what they are.
I actually just picked up a Wii yesterday after just finding a outlet with a shipment in pretty fast. Looked at getting X360 & PS3 - but both had their problems (X360- RROD, PS3-High Price)
People tend to forget that paying $50-60 for such a beautiful game isn't always in the best interest of everyone around.
I think this is a good move from Nintendo, why would they lower the price when the console is still selling like crazy. It's still the cheapest console available as far as "next-generation" consoles. Regardless of graphic prowess or whatever .... the Wii is still in the trio of PS3,X360.
Me? I won't be mad when Nintendo drops the price of the Wii. I've had mine for a year, so any price drop wouldn't be worth the wait.
A little hard to drop the price of something no one can find anywhere, yeah?
