Nokia's N810 Internet Tablet WiMAX Edition gets priced
Nary a month after debuting at CTIA 2008, the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet WiMAX Edition has found a place on Buy.com. Judging by the product listing, Nokia plans on charging around a Benjamin more for the WiMAX iteration, though this particular e-tailer hacks off another $23.01 for a final asking price of $455.99. Regrettably, the page doesn't fill us in on an expected release date, but we can just feel it drawing closer. Er, wait.

Update: MobileCityOnline has the device with an expected arrival date of July 9th. Not like we're believing 'em or anything, but there you have it. Thanks, Makai!

wow $455 thats alot of money for something the wont run a windows OS dont get me wrong i am a big fan of nokia i have the 9290-9300-9500 i like them alot but for a tablet i dont think so. the hell with wimax
john @ Apr 28th 2008 3:14PM
huh. They'd have to lower the price by a LOT in order to get me to buy a windows device. Maybe I just have standards, or something.

When I read your post, I picture a small, hyperactive rabbit snorting cocaine.

Having used a Nokia phone versus using a Nokia internet tablet are entirely two different things. I own a N810... and trust me, your statements smack of "unknowing"...
And honestly, I'm happy that it doesn't run a Windows OS. I have: Flash 9, (true) internet accessibility, and an OS that I know won't be that susceptible to malware, ad-ware, and virus attacks (it happens, but much more rarely than any version of Windows).
WiMax on the other hand though... even Sprint's roll out of Xohm is delayed. And only in a few cities. Perhaps WiMax will be relevant down the line.

Pdexter @ Apr 28th 2008 2:58PM
A bit pricey i have to say =( And with the current rate i buy these smartphones(next N78!) i dont think i can afford this one.
Billy Fiul @ Apr 28th 2008 10:15PM
erm... it's not a smartphone. it's an "internet tablet," as Nokia calls it.
it does have VOIP capability, however.

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't XOHM delayed until like 2010? If there's no XOHM love for a $500 N810, why would I buy one?
Dale @ Apr 29th 2008 11:36AM
You may need to hold down a stack of papers. Or keep a door open. Or perhaps even work on muscle mass in your arms.
john @ Apr 28th 2008 3:13PM
Uh, clearly you have memory problems. $479 was the original asking price of the N810 (non-wimax). This is exactly the price that was expected, esp. when they dropped the non-wimax N810's price by $100. Anyone paying attention knows that the situation is not "they're charging an extra $100 for the new device", but that they "dropped the old device's price by $100".
A little more fact checking on your part might be a good idea.
Sean @ Apr 28th 2008 3:31PM
Nokia's web site still shows $479 as the list price for the N810 w/o WiMAX, and the cheapest Amazon shows is $407. Not sure why the post says the WiMAX is $100 more.
rajuvamsi007 @ Apr 28th 2008 3:52PM
Nokia did lower the 100$ price recently. It was through a coupon code. I dont know if that offer is still there.
thethirdmoose @ Apr 28th 2008 4:12PM
I was debating between this (actually the 800) and the archos 605, but this doesn't have a hard drive, so i went with the archos. I like it, and if you are in the market, you should look at that too. The biggest advantage of the Nokia is probably the ability to install 3rd party programs
KC @ Apr 28th 2008 4:40PM
Actually, they are two different devices that do different things. They do have some overlap, but that's about it. The big thing about the n810 for me is the ability for video-chat, skype and a physical keyboard. The Archos 605 does some things better, but I won't even want to start to compare the two products as they are apples and pineapples.
Dan (thoughtfix) @ Apr 28th 2008 5:05PM
How about crediting the original source on that one? *wink wink*
I am in constant contact with my XOHM friends and it still doesn't look like I'll get WiMAX in Arizona soon. This makes me sad - I may have to take a trip somewhere just to review the latest tablet. Oh noes!
Shahryar @ Apr 29th 2008 10:58AM
Speaking about myself only, I already have a N76 for Tmobile (my primary phone) and a Mogul for Sprint (which I use as my work phone that I don't always keep on me). I would love something like this which was a Sprint phone too since I don't use it that much to call people - something that's more data oriented, and less a phone - but bigger and better than a blackberry. I'm thinking there are other two-phone people who probably think the same thing.
