Unlocked Blackberry 9000 spotted on eBay with new pics
This unlocked Blackberry 9000 was spotted on eBay just before the auction mysteriously ended. The seller says the phone is unlocked and will "Not be released until August 2007" -- we'll guess he / she is a little unclear as to what year it is. However, said seller promises that this particular unlocked phone is actually in stock now and ready to ship for the lucky winner. Listed features (according to this auction) include: 3G, Edge, WiFi, and Bluetooth, as we've seen elsewhere. There's no telling how legit this is, and the seller clearly pulled the auction for some unknown reason, but there do seem to be at least a few of these floating around. Peep the pictures in the gallery below for some photographic evidence.

The description DOES say that the phone is a Distributor Pre-Release model. I wonder if there are going to be any differences from the actual release of the 9000.
vegeta, whats the power level on that blackberry?
ITS OVER 9000!
The auction ended because 2 guys bought 2 phones! (check the history in ebay)

(where is the Edit button Engadget!? please edit the edit button!)
That vid is lame. It's just image grabs from the original transitioned together.
One word: macro.
This smells like a planted ad by RIM. Someone seriously expect us to believe that anyone who was actually selling this phone and has all the angles photographed couldn't be bothered to focus a single shot? Nothing like a little pre-release viral marketing. Well, it's effective - I'll give them that.
...or it's just a guy with a shitty camera and/or limited time...
Well Verizon still doesn't have the curve and their going to want $270 for it hahahahhaha.
bare in mind i have verizon
They were obviously shut down by Apple for trying to sell a knockoff of the iPhone. They DID invent the cell phone, you know.
Actually Apple did not invent the cellphone. They invented the smartphone and then some. Maybe not invented, they created the smartphone. Apple looked down upon the firmament, thought to himself about the chaotic cellphone industry and said, "...And on the seventh day (a Tuesday), I shall give all of mankind the.....iPhone, the true savior for mobile internet browsing." All kneel and give praise. Amen.
Thats odd. I had put "" at the end of my post and it never showed. Damn you Engadget comment system!
Oh now i get it. I put an HTML end comment which was ignored for obvious reasons. What I said was "open bracket slash blatent_sarcasm close bracket".
"high quality icons" Hilarious. I realize that this may be a pre-production unit. I certainly hope it is, because if this is the true 9000 its a complete joke. If the point of this leak to create excitement, it will certainly backfire on them. The best advice for RIM is to release it now or months after the iPhone 2.0 release. What a disappointing piece of work. LOL
The pics are fake at least.
the ball in the middle is totally flat, you can tell from the more oblique angles. the chrome edge is visible the entire time.
probably a render touched up in photoshop.
I don't think its flat, it just looks like it because of the plastic screen protector
actually, i guess that depends how recessed the ball is.
in the last picture you can see it's raised, though the blur makes it a little hard to see.
i was wrong, it's definitely not flat.
Very cool design.
Upon closer inspection, and from an aesthetics perspective, anybody get the feeling that it's just an 8800 keyboard, with a Samsung looking interface (a la D-Series), and an iphone reminiscent form factor (black face with metal bezel)?
Upon closer inspection, these are loafers.
Yes, 171631, and upon closer inspection, your face has a nose vaguely resembling someone else's, and eyes resembling someone else's, and a mouth vaguely rese--
I bought a pre production cell phone on ebay once. They are real, and sometimes they are cheaper than buying a phone without a contract.
PSP Backround???
It's interesting how he managed to get one ?
it is good.i know a girl on wealtyhkiss com and her boyfriend sent her one as a gift.
Oh, give it a rest, iSuck-ers! Stop trying to tell everyone who will listen (i.e., other smug Apple fanboys) that their non-fruity gizmos suck!
Sorry, that outburst was so unlike me.
something fish... but cool design.
Something fish?
it looks like my PS3's homescreen xmb... the phones exterior is fine but whoever designed the theme is obviously obssessed with his Sony gaming console.
by the way i have a BB Curve
Is it me or is that sceen a little on the smallish side compared to the rest of the phone? The Curve and the Pearl both have big beautiful screens, but this one looks kinda squat...
@ Steffen Jobs - Exactly how did Apple create SmartPhone. Your post clearly implies there were no other SmartPhones before the Apple phone which is in fact FALSE. Palm had a SmartPhone way before Apple dreamed of a SmartPhone, Microsoft had a SmartPhone long before Apple thought of a SmartPhone. All apple did was expand upon the iPod which was capable of contacts and calendar, added some radios, but you still cannot do Bluetooth, you cannot swap a battery. So how is the Apple phone such a sermon on the mount device we should all kneel before.
@ Crash, the pictures may not be on the mark over at BGR they have a better full front picture showing straight on view. Its not always the size of your screen but the resolution of it. From what I understand the BB9000 will have better resolution than the Apple phone.
I could care less about anything over than, a phone, contacts, calendar, web and a few games and the BB9000 can do those just like the other phones.
