BlackBerry 9000's official spec sheet leaked
A fistful of RIM documentation on Waterloo's upcoming BlackBerry 9000 has found its way onto the interwebs courtesy of the good folks at Boy Genius Report, and while there's nothing groundbreaking here, BlackBerry fanatics are sure to be drooling by the time they get to the last slide in this page-turner. The spec sheet promises a tweaked web browsing experience -- and we'll take anything we can get there, considering the device's support for HSDPA. We also see mentions of an improved picture library, automatic music playlists, and inline video streaming in the browser (!!!), all accompanied by a handful of screen shots of the device's delicious new theme. Seeing how we'll probably be waiting a few months yet for this thing to get into our hands, go ahead and satisfy your impatience (for a few minutes, anyhow) by clicking through to the full novella.

Its got java, learn something apple...please, my iPhone is begging for java
Its also begging for flash, no flash on the 9000?!?!?
Abusing the comment system:
This is NOT the BlackBerry's 9000 office spec sheet but the specifications of the OS that the BlackBerry 9000 will run (so it's possible this entire document could relate to many of BlackBerry devices in the future).
Abusing the comment system?
lol was just spectating thinking their smart for including java, hopefully they have flash as well.
I wont be replacing my iPhone until there is an Android device capable of more than my phone... Cant wait!!
slarity:
he meant he was abusing the comment system by piggybacking his comment on to unrelated one (yours) to boost his input near the top of the thread.
By abusing the comment system, he means that he is replying to you, even though what he said isn't relevent to what you said.
It's just a way of getting his comment up top to be noticed more.
Is it just me or is RIM playing "catch up" as opposed to "killing iPhones"? I've been a loyal BB user for years, but some of these "tweaked features" have been on other phones for a while.
This may be a solid, new Blackberry phone but I think it will get lost in the fray: HTC Dream, Touch Diamond, Touch Pro, iPhone 2.0, Android devices, etc.
Are these BB 9000 features of OS 4.5 features because all of these features seem to have to do with the OS, not the hardware.
It's not like they could make the browser any worse... I always thought that Pocket IE was the worst in the world, till I got myself a Blackberry...
anyone know of where to get a theme like that for the 8830?

Does anyone know about HTML Email? With the browser updated I'd like to think it is, but hate assuming.
RIM is not trying to catch Apple since the BB is already in the lead. RIM just has to try to stay ahead for a year or so. After that, they won't have much of a chance in the smartphone market. No loyal BB user wants a touchscreen since they're in love with their physical keyboards. It's all about how fast one can input text on a BB.
Since a BB user's whole existence is about getting an e-mail every minute or so, they wouldn't spare much time to do anything else on a BB. Get a message, send a message, over and over, all day long.
And isn't an iPhone a bit too much hardware for BB users that only live to do e-mail and texting. No BB user is going to sit and watch a movie or play a game while all their e-mails are piling up. Gotta go check my e-mail since my boss might be calling me or my client is needing my advice or my broker is send me tips. Time is money. Come on push e-mail, push a little faster.
CrackBerry fever, my fingers never sleep. Live or die by the BlackBerry push.
i think you said it best...the bb users are not in it to watch movies, download songs from itunes...bb users (for the most part) are business users who are in constant compulsive need to check their email (or atleast I hope so otherwise I have an addiction problem)...i dont want a touch screen, they are slow to use, require you to stare at the keys and how else am I supposed to drive, email, use my tom tom all at the same time while reading the NYT?
That last sentence would be a great blackberry marketing slogan! Nicely done.
"CrackBerry fever, my fingers never sleep."
And here I thought it was the CrackBerry that was making my fingers all numb and tingly...
Damn!
Guess I have to delete Texas Hold Em, BrickBreaker, and Meteor Crusher off my 8800. While I'm at it I'll have to delete that movie and my entire music collection off of the MicroSD card (OS 4.1 plays MP4 audio so I took 3 GB of MP3s and recoded them to 1 GB of MP4a). And that Opera browser has got to go! not to mention BerryTunes (who has time to listen to internet radio when there are so many emails to read).
Truthfully I can't tell whether you're kidding or not but I have an iPod Touch JBroken and I must say I truly love the things it can do and how it does them but if I didn't have it my BB does everything I NEED and most of the things I want to do.
my hip vibrates no matter whether my bb is attached, and my body generally has a hunched, email composing/reading posture, but I like movies and TV shows, especially when I travel (and would love to get CNBC, Bloomberg TV, BBC, CNN on the go). The bb sucks at multimedia. Any improvement is welcome, even if only auto playlists. Next please, proper video codec support and a player that enables full-screen playback (on the miserable little screen).
i already have my $600 where is the buy button :)
I would really love to see the addition/support of plug-ins on the homescreen - like WM. I love my BB, but I do miss my fizz weather and other customized plug-ins.
It's pretty nice; I'd think the main market is still enterprise customers so keeping it a BB is still important. If you want an iPhone-like device it wouldn't be a BB anymore.
4.6 looks like a hit. the web browsing features are a major plus since more and more ppl are using phones for it and companies are tailoring sites for web browsing.
Does the new browser allow you to view complete webpages like you would be able to see from an iPhone or a desktop computer, or is it still cheezy "mobile browsing" that doesn't deserve to be in this world?
