HTC Touch Diamond shots and specs: this week's big announcement?
We know HTC's got a big announcement coming this Tuesday, and while we can't say for sure it's going to the Touch Diamond, if today's leaked images and specs are at all accurate we think they might have something big on their hands. Check it out:
[Thanks, Kevin]
- 2.8-inch VGA display
- WinMo 6.1 Pro
- WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0
- eGPS, FM tuner
- Quad-band HSDPA 7.2
- 4GB internal flash, microSD slot
- 528MHz CPU
- 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus
- 10.7mm (0.47-inches) thick
- Supposedly also features an orientation sensor / accelerometer
[Thanks, Kevin]

gah, I hope they release a gsm version soon. Although as much as I like Sprint's reception. Their rebates aren't that great compared to att or tmobile
They're releasing GSM and CDMA versions of all three of the new models.
Something's up with those press shots.
Obviously it looks like a WM Pro (touchscreen) device... large screen, no keypad, etc.
BUT... the buttons on the front SCREAM wm smartphone!
"Home" and "Back" buttons are WM Smartphone staples, not Pro.
Just something to notice...
HTC have their own interface, codenamed "manilla", this is probably what uses the back and home keys ;)

I think there is a stylus at the back bottom right (left bottom corner on photo of the back) so it will be a touchscreen device.
OMG! The LG Chocolate, Nokia Prizm, and HTC Tilt had a one night stand!!!
Anyone else notice the shape of the port on the bottom? It has a USB logo beside it, but the shape of the connector isn't right. It should have two dog-ears, not one... Is HTC moving to a truly proprietary connector?
That is the standard HTC connection. USB plugs in fine to it
it probably fits the mini usb connector just fine, but also alows you to use headphones through the usb jack, like other current phones...
HTC, what is with sticking to the me-too 2.8inch screen? Lower mfg. & re-tooling cost? Hopefully the Raphael will get a larger +1inch screen & key board. It seems no-one is willing to make the jump yet to a UMPC-pocket size tool and be a leader.
Hmm....either this is a typo or their source is fishy. 0.47 inches is not 10.7 millimeters. It is 11.94mm
The source stated dimensions of 99 x 51 x 10.7 mm It shoulda read 0.42"
Have Alot of questions before thinking of buying this wonderful device
1. will it support WM7
2. All Hardware problems of htc - 3D Accelerator - Phone Call Conversation Recording - Will be solved in this device
3.Multitouch
4.HTC New Finger Friendly applications
5.New HTC Phone And SMS Application move ppc to nokia stage
1. Nobody knows. probably not even HTC themselves
2. Yes. It will be running manilla, which requires hardware acceleration
3. maybe. Some sources say yes, and some don't say anything. wait till tuesday.
4. It will have Manilla, an entirely new finger friendly GUI, as well as other software.
5. that makes no sense. It will have HTCs dialpad, which is great, and the WM6.1 Threaded SMS app, also great.
I assume Engadaget are aware that HTC are only manufacturing the SE X1, SE did all the design work. HTC did not design the X1.
just like nokia 7500~~~
nice
Hey guys, i read and speak fluent italian so i went and read the page in it's original language and it says the 3.2 Mpix camera has a flash... whereas on the photos i definitely can't see any flash...
Could these really be real photos?
Windows Mobile = Garbage. Worst phones ever!
Is it just me or does the back look like a Nokia Prism?
LOL.. looks like a Zune. I bet the Zune Phone will a rebranded HTC.
F117
when does it drop in USA
What is eGPS? Is this the same as aGPS?
eGPS = enhanced GPS
aGPS = assisted GPS
eGPS > aGPS > GPS
It offers faster and more accurate location fixing than aGPS
I truely hope this is a translation mistake. "integrated lithium battery from 900 mAh"
My Gigabyte i300 with 920 mAh battery last only a day under normal usage.
Remember it's running more power efficient chips
Even so I'm surprised, just hoping the chips are efficient ENOUGH
Nokia PRISM!!! Nokia PRISM!!! Nokia PRISM!!!!!
Or is it just me?
That back is atrocious. I'm not too sure what all the fuss with these diamond shaped surfaces are, but I find it totally deviates itself from the design philosophy of the front and side.
Somebody previously mentioned in the comments how the diamond backing might be a solid surface, but if you look at the side angle of these shots, there is a curvature precisely where a diamond orogeny is.
Asides from the back, I love this phone. I hope some manufacturer's take it upon themselves to release a housing for this phone with a standard flat back.
On what basis?
I'm not a huge fan of winmo as an OS. But I do have to say that I like the possibilities of customization and the availability of 3rd party apps.
iPhone may have a better OS, but unfortunately it's so totally crippled.
Of course, there is also the hope that you may one day soon be able to flash android onto these HTC devices.
Now, if only HTC will make sure to ship graphics drivers with these.
Hi All,
I was a site that says touch diamond is for sale? can that be true?

Please check the spects of this phone again. Ive been planning to buy this phone and I dont think it has a micro SD slot.
Touch Diamond hasn't got a SD slot and is limited to the 4GB internal storage but I'm not fussed about it. It's a great phone. I now have the "Touch," SE P1i, Moto rkr Z6 and soon the 3G iPod.
They're all good! :-)
