Epoda promises to deliver water-proof EP2501 watch phone
While that lone image above doesn't exactly inspire much confidence of its actual existence, China's Epoda is apparently now looking for partners to help distribute its EP2501 water-proof watch phone, which supposedly packs more features than your average, non-wearable cellphone. That includes Windows CE 6.0 for an OS, quad band 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900Mhz connectivity, a 2-megapixel camera, a 1.4-inch display, the usual PMP functions, 1GB of memory, and "support" for WiFi and Bluetooth (it's not clear if that means it's built-in or not, although dongles would pose a bit of a problem). Of course, there's no word on price or availability, but those interested in doing business with Epoda can contact 'em at the link below for more details.

I got the phone watch and it doesnt look dorky like other mobile phones out there. Yes I agreed that you would look like a retard if you are talking to your watch but that is when blutooth comes out and saves the day. about waterproof is only a maximum of 2 meters and the phone is not quadband , its a tri-band phone. I heard there is a way to run it on 850/ 1900mhz bands but I am not sure how to do it. The watch however comes with a leather band , not metal as they were first advertising and instead of paying almost $1,000 us dollars like SMS technologies was asking for their mobile watch , you can get this one for $200- $300. There is anotther watch that looks stylish and you wont look like a dork while wearing it so if you are shopping for a mobile watch , look for either the Apoda EP2502 waterproof mobile watch or the W688 i-watch mobile watch. Both look stylish and won't make you feel embarased wearing it.

I'm sorry, but I'll believe this only when I see it. Having a link to the mythical treasures of Alibaba doesn't help boost my confidence this thing (will exist)...
Aguiluz @ May 5th 2008 5:19PM
In fact, Alibaba has scams too

Not related to this post, but what happend to PS3 laptop?
did the buyer pay and everything? all is well?
Aguiluz @ May 5th 2008 5:05PM
Apparently, the buyer paid for it. If not, Engadget's going to mock the non-paying bidder like this:
"Update: The auction is closed! Unfortunately, the scumbag who won the auction backed out in just about the most illegible way possible."

Ah! Not going to worry about being this guy here:

I hate to chim in with everyone else but I'll believe it when I see it. Unless these are beta product shots it looks like the Bluetooth is built in which is a pretty sweet deal. Almost to the point of mythical.
Give it ten seconds of rechargeable Cloak and I'm completely sold on it as the upcoming must-have accessory for the modern Spy.

A watch phone with a camera?
So I can take pictures of my wrist and sent it to all of my friends?

A chance to be like dick tracy every time someone calls? I'm on it
For2itous @ May 5th 2008 6:13PM
With an inexpensive band extension kit, it can be worn as a high tech choker... gives off that Stephen Hawking vibe, if you know what I mean...

I too welcome our robotic, er, Underlords!

I'm only asking, but do these things have even one-hour talk time. I guess they use button batteries, right?

waterproof ... well ... for me, it's not always for swimming. imagine when you wear this watchphone, riding a motorcycle, and suddenly you have a heavy rain pour on you .... isn't this waterproof feature come in handy?
