HTC Touch Diamond hands-on

We had a little thumb-print orgy with the new HTC Touch Diamond immediately following its launch. Light and small, the Touch Diamond comes off as a unit with promise. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a while to get our hands on this via a US carrier, but Orange users in the UK will no doubt be pretty happy with this new handset, the first of its kind to use Windows Mobile 6.1.

I seriously doubt the forward facing video camera will be on the US versions both Sprint/Verizon and at&t/T-Mobile. Seems like they love to not having that video calling thats been available on HTC phones in the European markets for years already.

Yea, I know. For God-knows-what-reason US carriers just don't like video calls, even when they are more than capable of doing so. It's actually quite annoying.

When my Tilt/TyTN II's keypad packed up barely a week after I got it, I added myself to the list of iPhone buyers and have never looked back since.

Real metal and glass FTW.

And Windows Mobile... oh, god. Make that real metal, glass AND an Apple OS FTW.

hi everyone... god i hate fanboys, both WinMo & Apple. can't you both just shut the f@*k up about shitting on everyone else's personal taste? i am a WinMo 5.0 (my device, an E-TEN G500 and has GPS) user, but i am not the guy that says "iphone sux, and WinMo is the greatest" and stuff like that... you all need to get lives. all 3 OS (including symbian on this one), all have its advantages, and disadventages. whoever said symbiam ownes about 70% of the market is right and they are the ones who can boast about it. not apple, and not microsoft.

back to HTC Touch Diamind... its a valiant effort to put lipstick on a pig to try to make it beautiful, but looks only go skin deep. obviously there is lagging, but seriously, nothing in this world is perfect & plus they are demonstration whats next. WinMo has one of the ugliest UI's i ever seen, so that's why i use the free program PointUI to cover up the ugliness. i suggest anyone with a WinMo OS to try it. ok, it may have reminiscence of the iphone, but hey what can you do?

I've been living with the HTC TD for a week now.... Early impressions:
1. Slow - just like every other HTC/WM device I've owned.
2. 'Diamond' back is a waste of time and causes the device to rock when you are using it flat on a desktop
3. Fingerprints are drving me mad - surely there's a better coating for a touch device?
4. 3D interface would be cool if the phone was more responsive
5. Expensive & I'm finding it difficult to see how the price is justified.
6. I'm no Apple fanboy, but those with the option should wait for iPhone 2. I live in Thailand where there are no "Apple" carriers and hence no iP2 in the near future.

I must say, after using it for a few days now, I LOVE this phone -- tiny, sleek, and feature packed -- I think the Teeter game that uses the accelerometer is quite addicting, haha.

I like the phone overall. The iphone just doesnt cut it for business purposes.

Major gripe: After less than 3 weeks my usb cord shorted and does not connect to activesych. USB is NOT covered under warranty, so I would have to buy another (after spending $600 + on the phone)

this phone is very good.. but why the battery lifetime is so short... this thing, htc should take very seriously, because without battery how people would be convinced to buy the product.. look this comments into the positive ways..

Dont Buy! Battery is extremely Bad!!!
I've sold mine and I'm buying a E71.

Apparently When i went to sell it off, the Shop guy is showing me 2 more guys in the same boat. Waiting to sell it and buy E71. And the resale value is pathetic!!!

If u really want to check out diamond, pls look in the market, theres a lot of 2nd hand stuff available at almost half the price or lesser!
