A look back on popular stories from today in a specific year.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
Not to mention the "iphone" on the left has what seems to be 3 sensors, and the one on the right has one.
also the earpeices are WAY different
You do know that the three photos on the left and the large one of the right came from different sources and were not released together right? Engadget just posted them together I assume to avoid having two posts about "Leaked photos" Read the post next time instead of looking at the picture and then posting a comment.
Don't you see the contradiction in your post? You're forgetting that there can only be ONE 3G iPhone model. The fact that there is more than one source which each show a completely different model is evidence enough that they're nothing more than fake. Besides, it's not like Engadget doesn't have the power to have as many posts as they wish.
It's obviously fake...look on the right side of the right photograph. That's a weird lump...and it doesn't even look like it could be a button.
Since nobody's said it before me, Colorware iphone + simple photoshop = 3G iphone. The only way I'd upgrade my 16gb iphone is if it looked a hellava lot cooler and it's as simple to jailbreak as my current iphone.
errr, no one but me :-)
I'm not so sure about these pictures...especially the white. Come on!! We all know that Apple has been moving AWAY from the original "white" look (i.e. black ipods outselling white, chrome/black iMacs and Macbook Air, etc)
What I really want to see is a front camera for video iChat!!! Anyone think that's possibility??? And is that what the extra sensor is that we're seeing in the top left pix?

I'm still liking the metal on black action of the current iphone.
But if the features are much better than the current one,then I'll guess I'll prob get one.
Shot on the right: Obviously fake. The camera wouldn't be seen in the screen reflection at that angle.
Upper 3 shots on the left: Real pictures of prototypes. These are probably as close as you'll get... for now.
Bottom left shot: I'm confused about that one, but probably from the same people that did the middle 3 on the left. It appears to be just a case, as there's no SIM card cover and no sleep button.
How 'bout one with the phone powered on? I want some more proof than a crappy photoshop job that was complied from "leaked" templates. >:\
The two slots on top can mean something. One for the SIM Card, and one for the SD/MMC Card.

it can certainly support SD/MMC.
Even though i doubt that apple does things like that.

two slots? i think one of them is for the sim card and the other is for the home button. apple wouldn't allow for removable storage
the one on the right is HORRIBLE.
the one on the left, at least, is kinda fun, though looks a little ugly. (attention to detail is nice though.)

There's an easier way, when scrolling through the posts on the front page you can do this really cool thing called not clicking, here's how it works:

This week on house while one of the main actors answered a phone that looks an aweful lot like the white iphone i see in these pictures? It was as she was entering the elevator towards the middle/end of the show you see her pull out what looks like a white i phone? I asked my buddy if he saw it and yes we rewinded the DVR and there it was.

That's still the metallic back. Plus this is obviousley just a cover (http://www.macrumors.com/2008/04/26/black-case-iphone-photo-just-a-3rd-party-cover/) in white.

It's obviously the same camera they use for taking pictures of UFOs.
The one on the right may be legit, but the ones on the left are clearly that case that macrumors spoke about and the sensors look like an easy photoshop job.
"appear on Chinese phone forum" that's how you know it's fake. Like those Chinese iphone knockoffs that you see on craig's list for 50 bucks.
The nano looked awful in the leaked shots. Then I saw the final version in person and fell in love. I think the same will happen here, those silly holes will get a bit more refined and it'll all get a bit more expensive-looking.

Yea once again, I don't really know how people think that apple is going to place something like the iphone in the hands of an employee and say "now were gonna let you take this home.... but please don't take any pictures of it and don't tell anybody"
On the left... someone please explain to me why/how a chinese forum was first to have leaked photo's of an Apple product (Apple headquarters are located in CA).
On the right - why is the screen, which appears to be turned on, shrouded in darkness? Also, look at the contents of the screen closely... you'll see that it's not lining up with the actual device.
it could be found in china, because thats where they assemble iPhones right?
They could have bought the phone from colorwarepc.com they let you customize the color of your iphone.
there's many colour in china auction site......at least 40 colours.

The white one doesn't match with the right picture, they are two different products, left (white) is the normal iphone with the extra cover, right is still an Undefined Object (UO)
Anyone think about how the one on the right is basically an ipod touch with a blur or smudge effect on the outer trim? i mean seriously?!? look at the home buttton! ITS THE SAME SIZE AS THE IPODS!! as for the micro-sd slot on the side, select a portion of the side, copy and paste it so it doubles only a part of the trim [thus looking like a micro-sd slot].

With camera/phone technology the way it is today, if someone got their hands on a 3G iPhone, don't you think there would be a series of high resolution pictures detailing every single feature? It always seems to be ultra low res blurred single pics that surface.
The point about Apple lawyers swooping double speed to take down actual images is very valid. These are still up, therefore likely to be fake.
Ultimately, I won't believe anything - no matter how convincing - until Real Steve pulls one from his pocket at the presentation. And nor should you.

If you notice where he is pointing out the front camera and such. Notice how the earpiece hole looks nothing like the one on the pic on the right! FAKE!
Well if you have a mac you can hit ctrl-option-command-8 and it'll invert your screen. Then you can see that there's actual detail in the black holes and it's not a simple copy/paste job.
I'm definitely willing to believe that the left pictures are the real thing, however they're just an empty iphone shell. The power button is missing and the speaker seems a bit scary-empty.
I'd buy it.

i reckon the white iphone pics are fake, because the sleep/wake button and sim card tray are missing (bottom left pic)
