Sony offers up WiFi-enabled VGF-CP1 digital photo frame
Over in Japan, Sony has just launched a fairly well-spec'd digiframe that's certainly worthy of attention. The VGF-CP1 packs a 7-inch 800 x 480 resolution panel, multicard reader / USB port, 100MB of free internal memory (85MB for pictures, 15MB for music), support for still images / MP3s / WAV files and built-in 802.11b/g WiFi. Aside from showing off your recent vacation snaps, the unit can also display the current time, check in with your favorite RSS feeds and keep you up to speed with the latest weather forecasts. No telling if this thing will ever see US soil, but those parked in Tokyo can grab it on May 17th for around ¥30,000 ($258).

I continue to be stunned that Ceiva makes money reaming consumers with its subscription plans (you pay big bucks per month even when you use your own Wi-Fi connection) when barely any CE manufacturers step up to the plate and cash in on the market. Mother's Day reminds us that there are many people from older generations who wouldn't even be comfortable with the idea of selecting and resizing pictures and loading them onto flash cards for a digital photo frame.

www.yougotphoto.com is working to solve this problem.

Follow-up comment: 99% of all digital photos are in a 4:3 aspect ratios. These dummies need to stop making 16:9 frames (which they do to increase profits given the economies of scale in producing widescreen LCDs for portable digital video (e.g., portable DVD players).

My camera shoots 3:2.

This frame is noteworthy - different from the pack.
(And who gives a **** what Gizmodo would publish or not? I stopped reading their feeds long ago.)
Advantages - large internal storage, wifi, resolution, clock and feeds.
Disadvantages - 16:9 form factor, not Mac compatible, no movies, expensive.
I live in Tokyo and would consider this if it worked with a Mac.

you don't need a mac to use this... just upload your pictures to a Picasa album and it will read from there via wifi... or just use a USB stick with JPG... many many ways...
and sorry, all my pictures are 16:9 (well, all since last May!)
looks awesome, unique product today

As mentioned by others, what's with the lame aspect ratio?

dose this mean you picture frame can pick up your neighbors shared porn photos?
