I'm already liking how the 9000 is shaping out to be. During the rumors of the 9000 being in production/being released, I thought to myself, how could RIM make the BlackBerry more responsive and how could they improve to an already stable OS/smartphone and the answer is the BlackBerry 9000. Having/used an 8830 and by looking at the videos of the 9000, I could see how different both are and the improvements being made all resulting in a better user experience. No it doesn't have the multimedia capabilities of an iPhone, but from what's being reviewed and tested, RIM continues to excel at what it does best and that's provide the user a stable, messaging device.
As for some of the negative comments above, it's fine if you have an opinion but could you actually try to use the phone before bashing it?
TMM:
"Micro trackball thingy: are you kidding?
Scrolling a cursor over a slow and badly rendered web page: hahaha."
First, trackball > track wheel and second, although you can adjust the sensitivity for the cursor, it isn't the only way of browsing through a website.
And to the comment about Apple being ahead of the game, from what they have released (iPod), Apple has been ahead of the game and people are still trying to catch up to that but when it comes to Apple trying to produce a smartphone for heavy business users, that's where I think that statement doesn't work, instead Apple is trying to catch up to RIM. Currently, the iPhone is the best at what it does and that is to provide a user with a phone with rich multimedia capabilities but I can almost guarantee that this being Apple's first real crack at e-mail functionality, they will miss (as should be expected with any company trying new things). Right now, RIM is the king of e-mail and it will take Apple more than one attempt to try to make it on par with BlackBerry's.
Looks pretty good actually, far from sluggish...
Hate or love the iPhone but you gotta admit, if not for the iPhone you wouldn't see what you're seeing w/ all the other companies for years and years... All they've needed is a nice swift kick in their asses...
damn when can I get one I've been holding out on renewing my contact sin Jan.
Not bad but nothing revolutionary.
I can't see what people like about the interface - it looks like a cross between windows mobile and DOS! The long horizontal rows of monochromatic app icons aren't going to be instantly recognisable in a everyday use.
If RIM doesn't innovate soon they I think business users will start waking up to the other push devices becoming available.
Don't know why they all go monochrome either - it's weird. It would be hard to find things quickly in that list.
I do think Blackberry is improving rather quickly though. They have completely removed the lag from their OS which scores big points in my book.
