Sammy already gave us a
heads-up that its
Touch of Color LCD HDTVs would be widely available in May, and although it has issued no separate release to inform Earthlings that these things are available for purchase, here's the notice you've been dying to receive. As of right now, both the 650- and 750-series sets are in stock and available to procure from a wide variety of resellers, and if you're curious as to whether or not either family is worth your time, you can get a hint from our review of the LN52A650
right here.

I work at Tweeter, we've had the 750 and 650 series for close to a month now... possibly a bit more

it's still a samsung

Still? Are you kidding me? That tv is badass! I work at best buy and we got it in a while ago and the picture is amazing! I have sold a few of they already. The 71 and 81 series from there older models are great as well. Still samsung....

I still have trouble with that too. When I was growing up, Samsung was considered a discount brand that peoples' grandparents would buy. I understand that has all changed but I still gravitate towards brands like Sony and Pioneer. I had an older sister who spoiled me in the mid 70's with an Akai stereo...a premium name back then but now ironically, a purveyor of rebranded Samsung products.

I bought the little brother to this TV, the 650 series. The picture is seriously one of the best I've seen. I'd consider it better then the XBR4/5's.

I had a 71 that I picked up at CC, went back and got the 650. Man, what a great TV. Just make sure you update the firmware on it soon after getting it. Mine had the bug where every once in a while it would just turn off. Happened right in the middle of a GTA IV chase... Other than that, awesome TV. I was going to get a Sharp or Sony and after reading some reviews and comparing them in the stores the 650 was a no-brainer.

OMG do want!
I saw this TV at Brandsmart (42" version) and the pq blew me away. the demo unit was right next to the 42" 650 series and the 750 was a bit brighter. but that doesn't matter, i'd be a happy camper with either one!
Jack Storm @ May 8th 2008 4:23PM
doesnt come in 42" only 40". 650 and 750 are identical in pq just different style and the 750 has a few more features, like RSS. I love the toc and quality of picture.

Was looking to buy the 71 series then I heard about this replacement, waited & purchased the 46A750 online when available at Amazon, received last Friday, picture quality is awesome..!

I got over my Samsung snobbery a while ago as they make great equipment now. After spending the last year shopping for a TV, I bought this TV last week right after it came out and it rocks!

"I still have trouble with that too. When I was growing up, Samsung was considered a discount brand."
And I remember when people used to call a particular auto-maker "Toy-ota," making fun of the cheap, small cars. Now they're the largest manufacturer of cars in the world and among the most reputable. Hyundai went from selling the Excel in 1996 to the Genesis for 2009. Times change. Companies change. They learn. They grow. You can stick with the old connotations of a name or keep up with current performance.
Deed @ May 10th 2008 5:36PM
They said they appreciate that Samsung's a much more reputable company, but in the end, one's gut feeling just sticks with them and clearly this person's gotten used to gravitating towards those who were already high-end manufacturers decades ago.
I guess first impressions do matter after all.

every time i read a headline for this series of tv's, my heart skips a beat when i read "touch".....but then my sad heart is broken when i continue to read

These Samsung Tvs just look AWESOME.
The specs are pretty awesome as well but...
Having had a few monitors from Samsung in the past, I would need to see with my eyes the picture quality and how it performs compared to my Sharp Aquos...
Given that, of course, there a huge difference from their monitors but experience teach you to doubt and see with your eyes.
Right now, they look good in the pictures.
Let's see what they can do for real.
If they can truly perform, I'll wait until I can get my hands on a 70" or more...

I stare at these tv's daily. The 650 and 750 are very nice tv's. Samsungs have the best LCD on the market but why pay the price for this when you can get a 85u series Panasonic that blows it away and it being cheaper. 750 isn't worth the pirce. It is the same extact thing as the 650 but with info link and a different bezel and maybe 1 more HDMI port. These tv's get a bit more reflection and glare then even samsungs new plasmas. If you want a top of the line tv right now a 800 series Pansonic is really rivalling Pioneer Kuro's(elite a bit overpriced for what you get). But most of us have prob heard that next year Panasonic and Pioneer will be co-minglingly with each other. Sad that Samsung doesn't promote their Plasmas more with them being better then there $1000 or more counter parts. 50" Samsung 2200ish and the 650 52" 3200ish(not on sale prices.)
All I can say is wait 1 more year for a TVs... Panasonics with Kuro tech coming next year being 1 inch thick and the deepest blacks and best colors ever. Even samsung LCD's will be smaller and cheaper. Prices are tanking so hard this month across the board. But if I was to buy right now 85u or 800u from panasonic.

ok, i had purchesed this AMAZING TV. and i would defend its greatness to no end. but i must be compleatly honnest and there are some things people should know. first, tvs usualy have buttons, this one, not so much. it has somewhat of a touch system for a few key commands (power, channel, volume, ext...). most people would be happy with that, and i am one of them, but the bad part is that they are very hard to see because the text is inside the border (which is shiny) and in the light, there is a glare from most angles so you cant see where the button is or what it does. also it is nearly invisible in low-light situations. the good news is that the picture is amazing, the size could be bigger (but then again, it it were a hundred inch i would want it bigger {thats what she said}). but its worth the price, and the maroon tint on the border is gorgous. i have yet to try my Xbox 360 on it, but i have high confidence in this TV set. Also, when you turn the TV on and off it plays a little 5 note turn. its very calming, but annoying if someone fell asleap with it on and when you turn it off it wakes them up. well, there is my review, i highly recomend this set for any home. In my oppion, i give this TV a 9.5 out of 10.
