Wii Fit feet-on: feeling the burn, inadequate

| Yeah, dude seriously needs it. | |
|---|---|
| No, and get back to work. | |
| Physical fitness? I wouldn't put anyone through that torture. | |
| I don't know, but I certainly intend for Wii Fit to shed a few of my pounds. |

A look back on popular stories from today in a specific year.

Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
Not true. The Blendtec blender couldn't blend Chuck Norris.
Ryan, I've seen you on Cranky Geeks and you're neither big or fat, so I doubt you'll be losing pounds. At worst you'll get some good cardio out of the Wii Fit.
Anyone know if the Fit has a weight limit?
If you have to ask........ you're probably beyond that limit.
According to the sticker on the bottom in the last picture, it's 330lbs or 150kg.
Check out the text in the last picture:
To avoid injury...
...weight is more than 330 lbs/150 kg.
Also note:
...Board with your bare feet only--do not wear shoes or socks.
(maybe the Wii Fit socks have rubber soles?)
@ JK: I loled myself. Thanks.
Great, promoting lazy people to get exercise through their favorite pastime. I love it! Can we find a way to do this while eating or drinking? haha
Anyone else notice that on the back of the "Fiit" it says on the warning label "Do Not Wear Shoes or Socks". (Last picture in the gallery)
I find it kinda funny that Nintendo guys are demoing these with socks on when you aren't supposed to wear them on it in the first place.
Nintendo didn't wan't to gross everyone out with pictures of video game geek feet.
150 kg= 330lb for the record. at least they upgraded it from 115 kg
withdrawn vote me down
Ryan schmyan - I vote for Veronica in her Star Trek uniform (courtesy of Dvorak) for 1 month of Wii fitness.
Ok, so I have a wii, and enjoy wii sports. I am still trying to understand how wii fit works. Call me "Fit-Curious" So you get on the board... then what?
I have heard that there is yoga in wii fit, so you stand on the board and do yoga? What else?
Note: I'm actually serious.
I believe the propeer term would be "Fii-Curious"
I already ordered my copy... I can see it now, being able TO WALK UP STAIRS!!!
Hey, a guy can dream...
I just started a site to chronicle my attempt to lose 40 pounds using the Wii Fit. Check it out at http://wiifitproject.com!
I actually think this game can help you lose weight and would be nice to see other people tracking it. I lost over 40 lbs PLaying Dance Dance Revolution back in the day when that was big. Now I'm aiming to lose about 20 or so lbs(I'm 205 lbs 6 ft 2) using wii fit and I'm going to be tracking it through a personal site I made www.imwiifit.com. Maybe I can get other people to post their success stories too.
Does it come with the socks?
Haha - there was only ever going to be one result here.
Go for it - I like the idea of a Ryan vs Veronica challenge if the good lady is up to sharing her details with the wide world. Not that either of you exactly need to shift the pounds, but there is a difference between weight and fitness.
If you're going to do a serious review then you're going to need to do something like this anyway - you can't seriously evaluate it in 30 minutes.
WHAT? I didn't get any sox! (New Zealand)
Here is a pretty convincing progress review...

I already have mine (European) and it is pretty fun. Plus it already says my Fit age is 7 years less than my real one :-)
It's not so much that you need it as we want more data sets to compare.
For Science.
Yes. Science.
Didn't the Wii Balance Board worked less good on carpet?
European here and already own one. It is serious fun and sure as hell is a lot more fun than the sport school.
And glad to say my Wii fit age is also 39 now after two weeks Wii Fit where my actual age is 35, considering my BMI a little (*cough*) too high, I do not consider that too bad....
What only is a pain that 30 minutes excercise basically takes you over an hour because all the explaining the Wii wants to do. Would have been much better IMHO if you could choose a training program of several excercises. Now you do choose one excercise, get it explained, do it, get a score, get back to menu, choose another excercise... cumbersome if you just want to do a daily training routine.
And I can confirm the 150kg upper weight limit (there is a sticker on the box and the board itself), and I can also confirm that it works fine if you are over 115kg (I am, just a little *cough*).
I don't know about Wii Fit, but those are some badass socks.
Does it come with those socks? If not I'm not buying one, it's all about the socks.
Voted the first option, not because Ryan seriously needs it, but I just want to see what kind of an impact Wii Fit can make over a months time.
just to piss off about 63% of the readers...but will it play Doom?
Why don't you do 30 days of wii training and 30 days of riding a recumbent bike at home - 30 mins each and see which one is more beneficial for your health? The price would be about the same... buy a wii and wii fit and thats ~$350 and a decent bike can be had for that price. You can still play games while on the bike or just watch tv or something so there is still enjoyment to be had.
The Fit does more than simple cardio though, it does muscle training too, and not just for your legs. It's an all around workout as opposed to a bike which is pretty much just cardio and leg muscles. So it's not just about health. As the name suggests, it's about getting fit.
5. Do I really give a F%$&?
nice socks.
