HTC Touch Diamond hits the FCC
Ah -- we'd know that backside anywhere. If you were super-duper stoked about the forthcoming HTC Touch Diamond, you might want to sit down. Apparently, High Tech Computer Corp. has already sent this beauty over to the FCC, where a room is currently filled with men in white coats meticulously judging the above label placement. Regardless, this might bode well for a US release of the company's latest and greatest... don't you think? While you ponder that brainteaser, feel free to truck over to the FCC's site and get all the information you could possibly want about the Diamond's RF exposure.

I love Sprint, I can't wait to get this in Rev. A flavor with a side of SERO.

This is an awesome phone.Hopefully it will come out long before Sony's Xperia X1 is scheduled to come out.

This looks like the underside of a very crude Millenium Falcon, I hope the phone isn't really this jagged, otherwise I will need diamond lined pockets.
Phoenix @ May 9th 2008 12:49PM
This is it with the cover off. With the battery cover on it's completely smooth all the way around aside from 2 buttons.

Isn't this baby only in GSM flavor??
Genjinaro @ May 9th 2008 12:00PM
The one you see there in the FCC log is the GSM version.
There will be CDMA(Sprint) versions of this & the Raphael later this year.
Mills @ May 9th 2008 12:03PM
this gsm version going into the fcc first just ruined my day....
Genjinaro @ May 9th 2008 12:13PM
Remember, this is so it "can" be imported into the U.S. as an unlocked phone.
However it'll only support GSM/GPRS/EDGE, No UTMS/HSDPA because it is so.

besides the middle section, this looks like the floorplan for the condos being built close to my work.

Notice the retro CRT in the upper left hand corner of the family room.
Anonymoose @ May 9th 2008 12:25PM
it's a nice touch of nostalgia. i enjoy the bay window they put in the bottom room and the fact that they have those circle toilets littered throughout the rooms.
Yu Gi Joe @ May 9th 2008 12:39PM
I'll be hanging outside at the pool waiting for the Raphael on SERO.
Low Ranked @ May 9th 2008 12:49PM
Theres so much detail they even put a trashcan in the black room.
Wait, thats not a racist comment. Seriously, look!

No MicroSDHC is a hard sell for me. My HTC Touch has an 8 gig card in it and has been "upgraded" to WM 6.1 with EVDO Rev. A. I would have expect at least 8 gig on this device with a MicroSDHC. A 3.5 jack would have been nice but that's not a deal breaker.
Jerry @ May 9th 2008 12:30PM
saw a HTC Touch clone at Kinlu.com. It is called S1+ something. With Windows Mobile 6.0 and WIFI.
crow610 @ May 9th 2008 12:52PM
And your point is......
The Angry Intern @ May 9th 2008 12:38PM
I wouldn't expect to see this before mid-August. From the Confidential Letter on the FCC link:
"we are requesting the commission to grant short-term confidentiality request on the following attachments until August 15th 2008"
The things being requested are internal and external photos and the user manual
BerBar @ May 9th 2008 12:50PM
I'm still waiting for the Xperia X1.
Charles Han @ May 9th 2008 12:55PM
goddamn when are they officially announcing Raphael????
Low Ranked @ May 9th 2008 1:45PM
Possibly after Leonardo, Donatello, and Michaelangelo.
Phoenix @ May 9th 2008 3:29PM
maybe not soon.
I think they've focused on THIS one to get something out after the video drivers fiasco, and to compete with the X1, and since this is the least mechanical and therefore easiest they've focused on this and the Raphael and Titanium will come later.
My 2 cents
Matt @ May 9th 2008 2:40PM
While the Touch Diamond is going to be a big competitor to the iPhone, no microSD card slot is going to keep it from being an iPhone killer. The Raphael is supposed to have a microSD card slot and if it does... bye bye iPhone!
Personally, I'm waiting for devices with the APX 2500.

Once you watch the episode of The Office that you Tivoed last night, you'll see the commercial for it.
Or maybe it was Countdown or Daily Show. One of the three, anyway. As long as you watch what I watch, you'll see it.
ECG @ May 9th 2008 4:03PM
Wake me when the Xperia X1 gets FCC'd.
ENF @ May 9th 2008 8:59PM
thats one step closer to owning it.

Anyone want to take a stab at decoding the barcodes to see what IMEI, Serial, and Part numbers they used to generate them?
