Motorola's Q9c finally appears for Verizon
Just like we suspected, after a short delay, the succulent and delightful Motorola Q9c is now available from Verizon. Bonus shot -- instead of the $249.99 price tag we expected it to sport, it's actually bumped down to $199.99 with a two-year contract and online discount. So... what are you waiting for?

"Hidden" $50 rebate brings it down to $149.99.
[on my verizon page it shows in red:
>>> Save an additional $50 with a mail–in rebate! (Rebate not reflected in price)!

What I'm waiting for is for the Motorola Q to have a touchscreen, then I'll consider it as a choice in the future, but for now I'll stick to my AT&T tilt...
Genjinaro @ May 9th 2008 11:46AM
I wonder, why the Q9c and not the physically different Q9h (at least a CDMA equivalent model ver)?
Having both the Q9 m&c seems redundant, sepec....
McFlynnTHM @ May 9th 2008 12:05PM
Yeah, I'm trying to figure out how this is different from my Q9m.
Dr. Evil @ May 9th 2008 10:37PM
If you can trust the pictures, the screen looks very slightly larger and is centered better on the Q9c. The Q9m is about a mm to the right of center. Otherwise, seems the same.

I don't particularly see the usefulness of a touchscreen in this kind of device...
gabe @ May 9th 2008 11:50AM
...its still a motorola
Steffen Jobbs @ May 9th 2008 11:52AM
Oh wow! Is Motorola still in the cellphone business? I thought they gave up after losing so much market share.
Grant @ May 9th 2008 2:40PM
Motorola still in the phone business?
is that some sort of "i live under a rock on mars" joke?
half of the phones VZW carries are Motorola.
Between to RAZR, KRZR, RIZR, V6, and Q, in the many revisions that they offer, when you go into a verizon store the phone you are looking at is either Motorola, LG, or Samsung.
I currently have the original Q, but don't see how this is any different than the "music" version they released.
bucky @ May 9th 2008 12:13PM
yeah, it's a motorola ... so when you try to attach it to a computer via usb, the computer will be all "WTF IS THIS?"
at least that's what's happened every time *i* have attached a motorola to a computer.
Phoenix @ May 9th 2008 12:51PM
The difference is, this is WinMo rather than a Motorola OS
Charles Han @ May 9th 2008 12:52PM
hmm, with so many new phones coming out later this year such as diamond, raphael, and iphone, I think its best we hold off from q9c
paul h @ May 9th 2008 1:21PM
wow...instead of using the vzw website, i just called customer service to order the q9c. it mighta been a mistake on their end, but this is the deal i just got: i am a "new every two" plan member. at first she said the phone would be discounted down to $199, then she said $129 and that the $50 rebate would make it $79. after i said go, she said it now shows the phone for $50 and with the rebate it will be free (just pay $28 in taxes)! she even said let's get this done quickly as it must be a glitch. none the less, the phone is on the way. btw, sweetheart of a csr.
Notta Problem @ May 9th 2008 1:59PM
Ya better hope it's the Q9C rather than Q...
Hef @ May 9th 2008 1:37PM
Based on picture shown, it is the same as a q9m, but with blue on the keypad accents instead of the normal red. Even the change music view key is there, which is not normal for q9c's.
Just ordered one from sprint, so that I can use the gps and all the other crippled features verizon put into the q9m.
Fanfoot @ May 9th 2008 1:45PM
Sorry, I had a Motorola Q, and that Microsoft Mobile 5 was the biggest piece of crap I've ever used in my whole life. I don't know if I'll ever try another Windows Mobile based phone again. Constant crashes, out of memory conditions, couldn't dial a phone number without rebooting, etc etc. Let alone how virtually unusable it was--tried installing a ringtone on one of these babies? Remember what subdirectory you had to put them in by chance? Piece of crap. And the hardware wasn't much better--sucked down batteries overnight. Never again.
Emilio Mundula @ May 9th 2008 2:00PM
I had a previous model of the Q9 and I must say I was not satisfied at ALL.
Ended up selling it after only 2 weeks of bare use.
And don't let me go talk about how friggin' hot its battery gets after only 2 minutes of conversation...geez.
Much, much, much better the Samsung Blackjack II, now THAT was worth the money, NOT the Q9...
Two Thumbs down for the Q9, big time !
Dr. Evil @ May 9th 2008 10:25PM
My Q9m is the best. No problems syncing or anything else. Battery life could be longer and a 1.3 MP camera is weak but otherwize its been my best phone.
Rodeo @ May 9th 2008 2:03PM
I'm sorry but could the Q be any more irrelevant? My last Motorola...my last Verizon phone!
brad @ May 9th 2008 2:26PM
My Girl Friend has had that same phone from verizon for at least a month and a half
Emilio Mundula @ May 9th 2008 3:21PM
@ Fanfoot
Samsung Blackjack II is very good but so far the best WM handset I ever had is the HTC Cruise...
A total smack down.
If you wait a few months, the new HTC Diamond will be out and about and that's an awesome phone.
Although I will go with the new Sony Xperia and also the iPhone (when the 3G version will be out).
Dr. Evil @ May 9th 2008 10:27PM
Side is silver instead of red. This is suppose to be the business version of the Q9m but I don't really see a difference here.
Keff @ May 10th 2008 8:06AM
What are we waiting for? FUXING WIFI, that's what I am waiting for, Motorola!!! Since your first qwerty smartphone!!!
