Vita Audio adds a splash of luxury to R4 iPod / DAB radio
Nothing says sexy like a sleek wood trim, wouldn't you wholeheartedly agree? Vita Audio obviously does, as it's £499.99 ($980) R4 integrated music system just screams lavish. The all-in-one unit packs an iPod dock, slot-loading CD / MP3 / WMA-music disc player, USB port, DAB and FM tuner with RDS, front and rear auxiliary ports, built-in display, alarm clock function and the firm's detachable RotoDial remote. For those not feeling the rich walnut veneer, there's also a high-gloss white (surprised?) version available for £50 ($97) more. Sadly, the "coming soon" tidbit leaves us clueless as to how long you actually have left to save up for either of the pricey systems.

That's very hot. Would love to see something similar for my Zune 80.
It would be nice if they would make these devices a bit more universal. Fortunately for me, I use iPod so there are lots of cool devices which integrate to choose from.
Get real. I hope you're planning to live a long, healthy life to the ripe age of 110. Even then there's no guarantee you'll ever see something like this for the Zune. I doubt if there'd be enough Zune owners to buy a hundred of these radios.
Whats a zune?
classic style
does anyone know the link to the official Vista audio web site.
I can´t find it
it says "We estimate that R4 will be available from early June."
I guess you don't have TOO long...
No satellite radio? Why do these things come with an FM receiver anymore? Who listens to terrestrial radio?
I do
Why?
For the same reason not everyone uses Blu-Ray.
Because they like commercials and terrible, terrible music?
I love Faithless.
Ditto.
stylish? it looks like they put a vinyl wood print sticker on a 1970s era alarm clock. ugly. not even the ipod touch can save this thing from the ugly farm.
That's genuine walnut and the case is apparently quite nicely made as shown by the curved edges. I'm sure a close inspection would reveal meticulous construction.
Which came first? R4 Revolution for DS, or this R4 thingy?
The egg...
No but seriously the R4 has been out for a year now, i think.
I wonder how large the market is for these expensive speaker docks.
Probably not that big. But I'm sure they aren't looking for a large market. They already know it's somewhat esoteric.
It looks so like Tivoli...
This is a very nice-looking unit. It actually detracts from the look when you dock the iPod on top of oit.
