WiiWare lands Stateside, start defending those castles!
Nintendo just brought WiiWare to the States, which means you can finally download original games to the console -- not just the classics available on the Virtual Console. While we're sure the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles entry and the charming LostWinds platformer will do quite well for themselves, we've been drooling over Defend you Castle, the Flash version of which has sucked more productive hours out of us than we'd care to admit -- unemployment here we come! Games range from 700 to 1,500 Wii points ($7 to $15) and are available now.

those are the kinds of games that are extremely addicting at first and then the novelty wears off in about 3 minutes. still looks fun though.
lets try something different:
not first! losers...(you know who you are)
but you were first.
ok,I'll raise your "not first".
Commented!
3 Minutes? Try 3 hours. I played this game until I got to the point where I'd minimized it and it would win. I gave up at level 36 or so I think. Wasn't any fun to play because no one got past the spawn point.
I'm almost at level 50 now in the WiiWare version, and it's more frantic & challenging than ever!! Once the catapults start coming, it's crazy!!
7 - 15 bucks per those old time games is STEEP. "R4Wii" coming down the tube anytime soon?
those are not old games....read the post before commenting
Why pay for defend castle when you can play it for free, just like n for the 360.
Because those fraking pop-up, cover-up, video playing ads are really annoying.
Also, games range from 500-1500 points, no 700. DYC is 500 points. Pop (to whoever asked) and VOP casino are 700.
I need more mana!
Wii need more storage space!
i know, just bored at work and trying to change it up a bit. i still fail to see the awesomeness of being first comment on a story.
Well you obviously have an IQ above 12 then, as only monkeys find first post amusing. Actually I think that might be below monkeys... Pigeons?
I need wii points, cant find my plastic...............ill have to wait till tomorrow
Wow! Cobra AND Decepticon. That must make you a, uh, Cobracepticon. Man, you're a bad mutha(shut your mouth!)
come on, nobody wanted to post...or Decepti-bra?
Seriously..What absolute CRAP! Who the #*$& want to play such total $*&%! It just goes to show that the Wii is for babies and people with the IQ of cattle.
Yes, and you make yourself look oh so great... ~.~
Well, I certainly can't see PAYING to play "Defend Your Castle" under any circumstances. It's just a cutesy little game-- Using the Wiimote isn't going to make it any less tiring after a while.
Hey Corpse!
Deceptibra?
One word: Multiplayer!
Sorta looks like a zentradi battle pod
So - can one play these games against online opponents?
Yes WiiWare games support online play, however none of the ones in this first batch do.
For some reason after looking at that image i am craving some Pepsi.
I can see some pretty decent ones popping up in the future.
I might just have to buy this, for nostalgic reasons, seeing as how I spent the better part of my 9th grade tech class playing it.
No Dr Mario Online Rx, ergo, none of my cash this weeks. Although LostWinds does look cute.
What game is 700
I purchased LostWinds, and it is excellent. Buy it.
I be waiting for wiiware to come here in Australia so i can download the only overpriced title on the service .
Final Fantasy: My life as a king :)
Maybe it's just me (but based on the comments here, it's not just me), but $7-15 for flash-based games is unacceptable. I love my Wii, but this is too much.
