Raon Digital adds 32GB SSD option in Everun S32S Dic
Regardless of your views on the Everun's level of attractiveness, holding 32GB of SSD between your palms is enough to make any true nerd break out in a sweat. Raon Digital's looking to get quite a few of those kind hot and bothered in South Korea with its Everun S32S Dic. The handheld boasts a 568MHz AMD Geode LX900 processor, 512MB of RAM, a 32GB SSD, 4.8-inch 800 x 480 resolution display, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, USB connectivity and a built-in SayDic electronic dictionary with text-to-speech support. Apparently Raon's pretty proud of this puppy, as word on the street pegs it at a stiff ₩867,000 ($828).

Ah those clever namers, the SayDic does not remind me of Touch Dic for the DS.
Macha88 @ May 14th 2008 6:04PM
Its not what you say about dics that makes you who you are, its how you touch dics.
Vidit Bhargava @ May 14th 2008 5:53PM
wat is dat thing anyways...so small wid soooo many buttons???
which OS will it run???
Rob @ May 14th 2008 6:03PM
It runs Windows XP, and the standard battery lasts about 5 hours. (The extended battery gets twice that.)

While your question of what "dat" is seems rather off topic, I did a quick google search to find your answer,
Digital Audio Tape (DAT or R-DAT) is a signal recording and playback medium developed by Sony in the mid 1980s. In appearance it is similar to a compact audio cassette, using 4 mm magnetic tape enclosed in a protective shell, but is roughly half the size at 73 mm × 54 mm × 10.5 mm. As the name suggests the recording is digital rather than analog, DAT converting and recording at higher, equal or lower sampling rates than a CD (48, 44.1 or 32 kHz sampling rate, and 16 bits quantization).

wow dude...u did a lot of work
well didnt google tell u dat dat means "THAT"???

~~Tito~~ @ May 14th 2008 7:23PM
It takes like 5 sec's to do that. . . .
Colin Potter @ May 15th 2008 12:33AM
if "dat" means "that" why talk like a 12 year old chatroom gangster? just type like a person.
and no, google did not tell me "dat" means "that" because in reality, it does not.

What's the size of the SSD drive sitting inside that thing, 2.5 inches??
Rob @ May 14th 2008 7:35PM
I'm pretty sure it uses a 1.8" drive... one model has a 60gb hard drive, and it can be replaced or upgraded.
ady @ May 14th 2008 6:02PM
I'm not a true nerd then. I would still prefer more storage and cheaper price. Not that I'm ever going to buy this alien piece of technology.
spacegravity4me @ May 14th 2008 6:07PM
That's quite a dic... ehugh. Even I'm disgusted with myself.
Craig B. @ May 14th 2008 6:07PM
@Rob: That's not bad battery performance at all, I would have thought it would be less, considering it's Winmo, big screen and relatively fast CPU.
sinjinn @ May 14th 2008 11:48PM
its not winmo , its win xp
Fusion @ May 14th 2008 6:10PM
What are all the 50+ buttons on the right for?
Rob @ May 14th 2008 6:14PM
Thumb keyboard. It has all the buttons for a full QWERTY keyboard. An external bluetooth or USB keyboard is probably a better idea for any real amount of typing, though. (I have a roll-up USB keyboard.)
CraigJ @ May 14th 2008 6:14PM
keyboard?
Vidit Bhargava @ May 14th 2008 6:38PM
well...seems the device is set to be used in landscape mode while the keyboard is in portrait mode
Rob @ May 14th 2008 6:48PM
@Vidit Bhargava: The screen auto-rotates. It can be used either way.
Fusion @ May 14th 2008 6:36PM

Don't forget to wash your hands after touching your S32S!
Geonerd @ May 14th 2008 6:54PM
Too big.
Bluetooth 2.0+EDR means A2DP ? if so I want one anyway
Ninjakamster (PSN: Chin-Poh) @ May 14th 2008 7:09PM
High end SSD option coupled with a crappy CPU? Okay.........
Rob @ May 14th 2008 7:32PM
The slow CPU still browses the web perfectly fine, and can play downloaded Xvid movies flawlessly. It's the reason the Everun gets 5-6 hours of battery life, is virtually silents, and barely gets warm to the touch. The Asus eee gets scorching hot and noisier than my 15.4" laptop with maybe 3 hours of battery life. It's possible that an Atom-based model of the Everun might get more processing power for the same low wattage, but we'll see.
SimonRichards @ May 15th 2008 11:44AM
Up the resolution to AT LEAST 1024x600 and ill want.
Until then, ill keep wanting the Fujitsu U810.
TareX @ May 23rd 2008 10:29AM
I couldn't believe the processor's speed. This had better be different than the new Everun that will be announced on June 3rd.
