Pelican's Metal Gear Solid 4 Bluetooth headset gets photographed

See there, we told you it was authentic. The hotly-anticipated Metal Gear Solid 4 BT headset is indeed more than a figment of your imagination, and IGN's UK branch has the photographs to prove it. Granted, the actual unit you see above is a pre-production sample, but nothing about it is slated to change before finalized products ship en masse. No, you won't magically become as phenomenal as Snake should you wrap this around your lobe, but you can get a decent idea if it's your bag by peeking the high-resolution shots in the read link below.

I don't think the headset itself is ugly. My problem with the carrying case is that it looks like a mound of cheap rubber with a red piece of licorice wrapped around it. Just keep the colors gray and black with only the lettering in red.

You picked the wrong guy to pull the fanboy card on, and exposed yourself as a fanboy in the process. I've had my PS3 since launch day and was first in line for it as I stayed overnight. I've had a 360 since April 2006 and have turned it on a total of 6 times in the last 8 months. I have more games for my PS3 than I do my 360. I buy multi-platform games on the PS3. I have a pre-order in for the limited edition (or whatever it's called) of MGS4. There's not one game I know of that is coming out for the 360 in the future that I am planning on buying (the last one I bought was Halo 3). There are at least 8 games in the next year and a half I will be buying for the PS3. I imported the white Dual Shock 3 and just received my 250GB hard drive to upgrade my PS3.

All in all, I imagine I'm a bigger fan of the PS3 than you are. And guess what, I still think the carrying case is ugly. View a couple comments above to see my thoughts on the actual headset.

Drop your fanboy goggles. Not every comment on video games is a thinly veiled effort to say one side is better than the other.

Very cool, but, I think the special edition Metal GEar Solid 4 PS3 should come with it.

Since its true bluetooth unlike the Xbox360's headset, I suppose I'll be seeing alot of people walking around with these paired to their cellphones.

I had that idea the first time I saw this come around. Pair this up to my cell phone and set it to my MGS codec noise ringtone. I could pretend to be Solid Snake.

They made those afterglo controllers, They were pretty awesome. I had one for PS2 and Gamecube. They came with a big Pelican sticker that I put on my bass guitar and it's still there.

Who the hell said it was meant to be worn outside. Do you play with you PS3 or plan to play with MGS while outside? It's a Headset made for MGS and the PS3 and NOT for your phone. But yes it is ugly! Same goes for the Halo version too! Heck anything with a theme on it!
