I think RIM is doing an awesome job keeping their phone up to date - a lot of companies forget that its not just the hardware but also the software. Would like to see if this update is more than just skin deep - hardware and software wise.
RIM looks like they are paying attention to both and will certainly give Apple a run for its money.
Still happy with my iPhone - but it's good to see RIM doing its homework. Cant say the same for the sorry offerings from Palm and WiMo.

Is it my imagination, or is this screen on the Bold very small? Part of Blackerry's useability is that they have decent sized screens - I would have second thoughts about this one if they have shrunk it any further.
He's such a d-bag that they should take it away from him!

I don't care what anyone says, Apple has the whole industry (including RIM) all confused. Like it lump it the iPhone did actually change the whole industry. They behave and are trying to imitate the iPhone. And I don't care who buries my comment, try to say that's not true and you're only fooling yourself.
A "dock" of icons similar to the iPhone along the bottom of the screen, the chrome rim around the whole edge, and then finally the full touch screen thunder coming later this year.
Go on say it: "touch screen phones were out there before the iPhone!

Music players were out there before the iPod. It means nothing. The iPhone is changing the whole phone world and koolaid has got nothing to do with it. Taste, a revolutionary user interface, good management of the iPhone team, talent, vision and direction are the reasons for this. Simple as.
@ Brenden - Dood It's not even a touchscreen. How can you say the copied the iphone? Iphone totally copied the razr, cause you make calls and stuff on it. Must be true cause I said so.
If anything, it looks like a Moto Q which was out well before the iPhone.
This has nothing to do with the iPhone. The iPhone has a large screen for multimedia purposes. The screen on the Bold is more than large enough for business purposes such as email, text, calendar. Furthermore, I would much rather have a hard keyboard than the iPhone soft keyboard which is not all that easy or quick to use.
It's silly to compare every new phone to the iPhone. Not everyone wants and iPhone. I don't.

And there lies the problem.......he didn't share any "impressions". Essentially it was a "Look at me, I've got a BB Bold" post and nothing more.
I don't think anyone is envious of that fatty Engadget. This looks pretty much like a treo with a smaller screen. They're going the wrong way. Screens need to be longer and touch. It's the future folks.
weel, compared in looks, that is one of the best looking phones after the iphone. note I said ONE of the best. There are a bunch of other good lookers, but this is like michael jordan to a little kindergardener in basketball when compared to a treo. It isn't that fat anyways.

It's so random that he gets pre-rel. stuff. Do the companies who give it to him really think he's going to give apple the boot, and start endorsing them?

Umm...why are the icons all white again? I thought the press image showed that the icons were getting a splash of color, which I think they really need imho.
Probably a different theme, the theme currently active is probably 1 of 3 or 4 RIM has installed by default

That screen blows!!!!!! It's so tiny. You dont even need a trackball, all you need is a left or right button for the menu.

Small compared to what? It matches the resolution, but not the size, of the screen on the iPhone.

I'm a real Apple fanman, but for a Blackberry that does look like a very, very nice phone indeed.
That thing is sex-ey! Much nicer than my Blackberry 8310. I hope I can get one when it comes out, I signed up for quite a long contract from o2 but maybe I can still spend the dough to get one.
The icons are black and white because the version he is using is an older OS. The one pictures from the official RIM press releases are with a newer version of the OS.

The screen is bigger than the one on the Curve. It's the same heght but it's wider and double the resolution.

I saw someone with a BB Bold at the Troubadour in LA last night. He was taking a picture of the band. Looked good, but I'm a WinMo (Tilt) guy myself.
First of all celebraty's always get brand new merchsndise. Its called free advertising. 2nd People pleasel & listen to your selves you are arguing over new cell phone status. Yawn!!! Blackberry in my opinion has always had some of the worst phones on the market. Their UI is cluttered, confusing, and old/outdated. Their browser stinks. Their trackball looks cool but does not perform well. This phone does not even have a touch screen!!! Even Palm has touchscreens which doesn't speak well for blackberry. I'm all for the actual keyboard so don't consider me an apple fanboy but... no touchscreen on their display??? The only thing I can really say though is that I like the look of their phones... except when I see the UI and then I go back to barfing.
