Nikon's Coolpix S52c now shipping
Nikon is shipping the Coolpix S52c WiFi-capable point-and-shoot camera as expected. The S52c allows you to upload pictures to your Flickr or Nikon's own "my Picturetown" online image repository via WiFi and comes with 6 months of T-Mobile HotSpot access. Camera specs are pretty respectable, including a 9 megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom, 3.0-inch LCD, and optical image stabilization. The Coolpix comes in at $279.95 and should show up at retailers soon. Despite Nikon saying it's shipping now, Amazon says it will ship on or around June 15, so hopefully they're just a little slow on the uptake and Nikon isn't lying through its teeth.

Costco has the S52 (non-wifi) for $180 after $50 off coupon.

Oops. Autocomplete may have just made me submit an old comment. I'm a silly goose.
Anyway, anybody know if the wi-fi on this is limited to Flickr and Nikon's own service? I'd be all over this one if it uploaded to Picasa. If not, I may just get the non-wi-fi version.

Pictures seems to go to Nikon's my Picturetown only.

Thanks for the info, Paul. I might as well just go for the S51 then. I'm actually a bit surprised that the prices are relatively the same for both models on Amazon (the black S51 is at $199.99), but maybe the S51 will see a price drop soon.

My Nikon Coolpix S50 is the crappiest point-and-shoot I have EVER owned. I do not recommend this camera at ALL. Stay away. The piece of junk can hardly focus on anything, its shutter lag is the worst I've ever experienced, and its GUI is just awful. (You have to jump through various menus to do things like change flash settings, macro focus, exposure levels, etc.)

Focusing was definitely a problem on earlier models, but the S52 has noticeably better AF than the S50 and S51. I think they also fixed the problem where a clock will flash in the lower corner of the screen seemingly randomly. Most Ritz/Wolf Camera stores already have these ($249), for those of you looking for them.

I'm sorry, the S52, not the S52c, that is.
