Custom Illuminated Confusion Nikes light up the streets, your life
Personally, we'd prefer slipping our feet into the WiFi-detecting Nike Dunks if given a choice, but it's hard to argue with the smooth factor bundled with the highly customized kicks shown above. Dubbed Illuminated Confusion, the shoes feature a pattern print with "neon green light-up lateral sides that either blink or glow." The lighting on each shoe gets powered by a single AAA cell, and you'll even get a free "custom box" with you order. And considering the $400 price tag and two to three week wait time, we wouldn't expect anything less. Vid after the jump.

Now the cops can find you even when your hiding in darkness! SWEET!!
LOL LA Lights, hahahah i still remember begging my dad to get me that hahaha how sweet was LA lights lol!
wow, they look hideous >< at least to me..
Not just to you
i dont even see why the low-top dunk is so popular because it has to be the most unflattering shoe in existence, its like wearing brick (feels like it too)
i'm not huge on these ones specifically but i love low top dunks, i have two pairs and they are some of my more comfortable sneakers (nothing beats onitsuka tigers though.)
surely you could recreate this pretty easily and cheaply with some EL-cable and a little bit pf patience. Surely not worth $400... but then again, I dunno how much these actually retail for as stock.
If only I could get me some Stan Smiths customised like that...
this reminds me of when i used to put flexible glowsticks in my shoelaces... like, woven between them... for dances in junior high
You good at solo dancing?
yes but i dont see what.... oooooh.... oh i get it... touche' sire.
no but seriously... that was grade 8... so the girls probably thought that it was cool
Haha, swingin' dick hero! That was hilarious.
lol That's the only thing at engadget that has actually made me laugh. Sure I thought other stuff was funny, but I have never just laughed before.
flaunting your package in 8th grade? sure the pedophiles wouldve enjoyed it but i dont think the girls wouldve been too impressed
@ugg.tryptophan
They still aren't impressed with it now.
Great, now get working on the Back To The Future II version with the light-up logo!
Back to the Future 2 had nicer shoes http://youtube.com/watch?v=28Wa5L-fkkM&feature=related
make it happen! http://www.mcfly2015.com/
L.A. Lights seem really inadequate now.
My thoughts as well. They were such big shit back in the day, along with pogs, skip-it, yo-yos etc. Some '90s nostalgia should stay just that...nostalgia--'cause these shoes look awful.
$400 to look like a silly 12-year-old again? No, thanks....
Why they did not illuminate the whole tick is beyond my comprehension.
You'll be the envy of 6-year-olds everywhere.
LOL they needa set of 24" wheels to be complete.lol
They riced out those shoes. Pretty heinous even in the daytime IMO.
I'm confused..
wow. i remember being to cool for these when i was 6... and that was only 30 bucks
They look nice but are, uh, kind of pricey.
Those shoes are hideous before the lighting is turned on, and the lighting does nothing to help that.
If you have spare money, get them.. heh
quite cool, but they should make it run off kinetic energy from walking not batteries.
You may as well get a carry a big neon sign on ur back that says 'mug me!'
cool tho
I like the WIFI detecting idea. Throw that in, cut the price by 80%, and make those things black boots and I'd be happy. ^_^ As they stand, they're some of the fugliest things I've seen in years... I've got to wonder what the hell they were smoking when they made those designs because honestly they look like something that a 6YO would color in a coloring book. >_
o come on have you seen "fashion" these days? throw a bunch of random crap on a shirt and BAM you have a hip new shirt that you can see for 40 bucks because its "designer"
I vaguely remember having some shoes similar to this when I was 3 years old...
This thing can play doom, right?
no its a shoe, as if this comment wasnt stupid enough for computers
Why would I pay $400 for something when I could just spend some time modding my own shoes with cheap LED's?
Modding your own shoes with LEDs? biggest. dork. ever.
They should have at least had Michael Jackson moonwalk in them. That way, at least the dorks would have bought them.
I for one, do NOT welcome our fugly Nickelodeon shoe overlords.
Lol, isn't this dangerous? They are illegal for cars here cos they distract, so what about walkers? They may bump into each other :S
the normal thing looks ugly.
The rest is ok.
lol the overlord joke never gets old
$400 to display a glowing Nike logo!? They're the ones who should pay people for being living ad displays! (and for their therapies once they loose all their friends)
It wasn't L.A. Lights.. It was L.A. Gear
