Cowon gets official with upgraded A3, Q5W PMPs
We'd already heard that the Cowon A3 would be getting a bump to 80GB, and the company has now not only gotten official about a US release for it, but dropped word of new 80GB Q5W as well. You can look for the upgraded A3 to land in the US first on May 26th for $440 (a good deal less than the $691 Euro-to-dollar conversion we heard about initially), with the 80GB Q5W following in late June for $600. Both models are otherwise identical to their less capacious counterparts.

It's too bad Cowon has this device aimed at such a nice market.
A tad expensive :/

Yes a nice market indeed...

Too big and no A2DP Bluetooth....

Um, you guys are forgetting that the A3 is designed to just play media, and all types of media. I mean on iAudiophile forums, the biggest compliant was that h.264 HP wasn't working right (and they fixed it for the most part, and it continues to improve).
Not to mention the sound quality is top notch. I'm salivating over this, but I have the 60GB version, so I'm not sure if 20GB is worth it to get a new one, since it has a USB host and can read music off memory cards and stuff anyways.

iaudiophile.com? Don't you mean cowonfanboy.com?
ccox @ May 20th 2008 6:28PM
Actually iaudiophile.net isn't all that fanboy.... compare that to the Achos forum site where your posts are deleted as soon as you say anything critical about Archos.

I am confused over the Q5 and the A3. It actually seems like the Q5 is the flagship model but the A3 seems to playback more files.
I have the Archos 605 WiFi 160GBs and I love it, but i wish it was more more powerful and played HD like the Cowon.

Pure fucking sex. I still want to see a goddamn HDD, though Cowon. They keep releasing inexpensive flash DAPs and expensive PMPs, consistently ignoring the area in between.

I still want an A3-like player with a touch screen.
