iPhone theme sullies Vista's good name
For those with identity crises, great senses of humor, or serious cases of Vista Fever, Spec-Works' VistaPerfection theme for the iPhone brings all the splendors of Windows Vista -- well, the important visual aspects, anyway -- to your pocket in a way that we can safely say Microsoft never intended. If the wow hadn't already started, ladies and gentlemen, it certainly has now.

That is wrong on so many levels.
Yeah, why would anyone buy an iphone in the first place?
Nah.
Theming your device to look like another is as old as....well the early 90s.
You have to try it once.
Fortunately most people stopped doing it after they realized how bad it really looks. It's just never quite the same as the real thing.
it makes iphone look so cool
Hm I think my WinMo 6.1 phone looks better. And without an iPhone skin^^
I wonder if this means that our iphone's will now suffer from the Blue Screen of Death. :P
Dude, that is so cool.....and pretty messed up too
Yes, that is called "camp".
And that is why I love this thing. Totally camp, totally awesome.
?
Sigh.
"Camp is an aesthetic in which something has appeal because of its bad taste or ironic value."

Camp (style) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Definitely pretty cool.
WOW pretty neat. i almost thought it was a real windows vista.
Replace that Windows icon in the lower left with an egg and you have a winner!
Id download it in a heartbeat if it would give me full access to my iPhone.
Isn't It the other way around? Vista sullies iPhone's name????
The author of this article was trying to be witty and funny--he failed.
Yes, it seems to be a requirement to work at Engadget "In your posts attempt to be "clever" and "witty", preferably using tired cliches, but NEVER actually succeed in being funny, this is of utmost importance."
I'll never understand those who take the time to insult something that they are not forced to participate in.
@striggity: they're just jealous they didn't think of it first. It's like those who rag one the posts made by engadget saying "this isn't news".
@striggity
I actually like Engadget, i just find the writers to be lame, and they really try too hard sometimes.
@Fara
Oh yes, I'm so jealous of their clever banter, and no it's not the same as the people who say Engadget posts aren't news, duh man it's a tech blog, Stupid comparison.
@ Meaty Pi...
I'm not saying there's anything WRONG with you downing the writers...I just don't understand it. It's a tad oxy-moronic to like a blog but not like it's writers. lol. It's like liking a singer but disliking their entire catalog. But I digress. :-)
@striggity
Actually, it's the other way around. Like a blog and disliking the writers is akin to liking a band's songs but disliking the members.
well I thought it was funny. I like my blogs to be tongue in cheek, even if it's not 'rofl' funny.
wow!
no, seriuosly, i can't see why anyone would trade this for apple's nice and tidily arranged icons. but maybe that's just me
those icons look pretty 'nice' and 'tidy' as well.
nothing wrong with vista in terms of appearance.
@Dave : Maybe you never noticed this, but WinMo has had "nice" and "tidy" arranged icons. It's called the "Application Launcher". Not on the homescreen, but that's where all the neat programs are.
Apple just used more pretty icons with rounded corners and a glossy theme, and called it "innovation".
Well played Quickboy:
Welcome back to PocketPc 2002 :)
Which version of Boot Camp Mobile is this?
Nicely done! You have to appreciate that even if you don't like Vista.
Why is everything stretched vertically?
because the iphone's touch screen isnt very accurate. so its difficult to press anything and expect a response you would want.
hence the need for big buttons.
this gets more complicated for the 33% of US Americans who are obese....lol
Big buttons have nothing to do with vertical distortion...
The iPhone's screen is extremely accurate. The only thing that makes it tough is when lard drips off of my giant American banana fingers onto the screen.
@hello user,
I take it you haven't actually used one. The capacitance display used on the iPhone is actually rather good, and I personally find it way better than the run-of-the-mill pressure sensitive, stylus-dependent displays that most phones still ship with. That said, this is a hacked up skin, so this has no bearing on the accuracy of the display.
Actually, that's pretty cool. People (myself included) are always trying to make Palm OS and Windows Mobile look like the Iphone OSX, it's kinda funny to see someone doing it the other way 'round.
OH NO!!!!! Can someone do this to his own iPhone?? Please!!!
Now this is what Windows Mobile should look like!
You've got a point there!
This looks way more modern that windows mobile 6.1, and if the rest of the interface was consistent it'd be great!
WinMo 7 Maybe?
Not a chance since MS loves to recycle, but I don't doubt for a second they could produce something great if they ditched the legacy crap and started from scratch - something similar to the OS9 --> OSX transition!
I have to agree.
It's actually ironic that a theme for the *Apple* iPhone looks better than the actual Windows Mobile product.
@w00t:
Microsoft ditched a bunch of backwards-compatibility with the xp-->vista transition and look how pissed everyone got about that!
FINALLY! A reason to buy the iPhone!
saw this on another site...the locked screen of the iphone looked so sexy with this theme.
I'm thinking Vista would have to have a good name in the first place for it to be sullied?
This gives me a glimmer of hope that one day the windows theme on my windows media device will look as nice as the windows theme on the iphone.
And 10,000 Redmondites erupt with joy at the prospect of finally (maybe) being able to get away with buying an iPhone and dumping their WinMo turds.
I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.
Ya its hard to tell with all that Apple crap rolling around there all the time.
You know what, that looks good!
I wasn't aware there was a way to make the iphone worse, guess i was wrong...
