N-trig shows off pen input-capable DuoSense multi-touch display
It seems like there isn't a week that goes by these days that we don't see another multi-touch display (homebrew or otherwise), and you can now add one more contender to the growing ranks, with N-trig set to debut its new DuoSense system at the SID International Symposium in Los Angeles this week. This one adds pen input capabilities to the usual array of multi-touch features, as well as the somewhat unique ability for multiple people to use the display simultaneously, which N-trig says makes the system ideal for gaming applications. N-trig also boasts that the technology works on "large format displays," but that apparently maxes out at a not-exceptionally-large 22-inches at the moment. Head on past the break for a video of the rig in action.

troll elsewhere. Apple has always been a late adopter.

I'm just waiting for a TouchMii system from Nintendo combined with touch-capable TV set and a game of boxing. That's gonna be a lot of people complaining about their broken fists. :D
MeatyPi @ May 20th 2008 9:18PM
TouchMii? sounds like a porno with Miis or some type of sick Wii game that will have an Adults Only rating and be banned in 43 countries.

Touching is good.

I'm not as blown away by multitouch now that we've seen so many lately - and this one seems a little jerky when it's handling pictures and maps.
The "game" seemed to run okay...

Ung! I lost the game.
ddub @ May 20th 2008 4:39PM
Hmm, I don't usually call my computer monitor a "large format display". All this multitouch news without anything innovative is getting boring.

OMG to comments in and we allready have a nintendo and an apple fanboy! That's gotta be some kind of record in in fanboy-ism...
I like the headtracking idea but i want to see headtracking displays with a 3D input system...

So the "some kind of record in in fanboyism" was purposeful? Interesting.

I thought this was the technology used in the dell tablet?

This would be the ideal display for me if it was a wide screen 1080p display with some kind of customizable virtual keyboard that pops up when you need it, a really nice TV tuner and a nice set of speakers. Integrate the display, speakers, keyboard and mouse into 1. Keep the tower separate so it can be pimped out.
