CTL's mini IL1PC gets mini-reviewed
The folks over at Laptop Magazine have gotten their mitts on CTL's latest edition to the ever-growing field of ultraportables, the IL1PC (or as we like to call it, the Airis Kira 740), and have given it the once over. The system is built atop VIA's 1GHz C7-M CPU, has 1GB of RAM, a 60GB hard drive, and uses Windows XP as its OS. Obvious comparisons to ASUS's Eee abound, though Laptop was impressed with its slick design and small footprint, and felt that it excelled at simple tasks like web browsing and email. Things weren't so smooth when it came to video playback, as graphics-intensive duties led to choppy behavior. Head over to the full review to get all the ins and outs, as well as some handsome pics.

Put XP on it and rerun the video test please.
im curious about these video tests. I have a 1ghz Pentium-M 1 GB of ram and 60 gig hdd in my UMPC (Samsung Q1) and video plays just fine, no chopiness... Something dont sound right.
1GHz on a Pentium is completely different than 1GHz on a C7. Also, your Pentium probably has an Intel chipset handling a good portion of the video work, whereas this will only have some crappy Via Chrome garbage (which is actually probably a bigger factor). Finally, this was for streamed Flash video, plus whatever weird format Skype uses, not DVDs or Divx...my Eee often chokes a bit on Flash video.
My PHONE does simple tasks like email and web browsing well.
Frankly, I think it needs more bezel.
Haha, good one
MORE COW BEZEL!
OMG please stop making these ultra portable pieces of crap! At least make the screen bigger so there isnt a massive thick frame of death around it that makes it look even smaller than it is.
+1
That's when prices get bumped up to $650.
Holy Ghost of Bezel Past!! This one's off the richta'!
Dude, who wants something with a screen the size of my hand. I'd rather have it less portable and more usable.
You know what they say about guys with small hands...
