iPhone / BlackBerry Bold get close on video, are clearly uncomfortable together
It was simply inevitable: someone was going to lay the iPhone and BlackBerry Bold down beside one another, and if John Mayer won't stop sending himself emails long enough to do it, CrackBerry's sister site will. There's really nothing here that you couldn't put together yourself from checking out galleries and videos of each device separately, but feel free to humor your sick mind by glancing over the comparative images in the read link below or examining the vid waiting after the jump.

I'm not sure this a meaningful comparison. The focus on the Blackberry is email and speed thumbing while the focus on the iPhone is browsing (directly or indirectly).
The lack of a large touchscreen immediately handicaps the Blackberry as a browser/multimedia device, and the lack of real keys (and the tactile feedback) handicaps the iPhone as a texting device.
It seems to me that this is better presented as two devices with different markets. Pick the one that works best for you.
What the frack is the point of comparing a brand spanking new phone to a year and a half model!!?? Half a twit could have seen the utter lack of value in this self-pleasuring exercise... Of course, they couldn't have waited just a few more weeks and compare it to the iPhone 2.0 as it will then make the Bold look more like the Old, mere weeks after its release... lol.
And then to see all the Engadget idiots and Apple haters come out in stride to comment utter nonsense out of their asses.... I really need to find a better place to get my tech/gadget fix. I am even starting to feel just as stupid as them for even wasting my time reading the comments on this site... :(
If the Bold has a decent enough browser that renders pages like the WM internet explorer, i'm sold.
i dont think i could get used to iphone touchscreen keyboard
Does the Bold come with a feature where you have your personal data compromised if you have to return it for warranty work or sell it on eBay when you want to upgrade?
Wow! You are amazingly hilarious and witty! When I grow up I want to learn your perfected comedy stylings.
I think the bold is a very impressive jump in user interface for the blackberry folks. I'm impressed with the progress. At least compared to the current iPhone, anyone who prefers push email, search in email and a hard keyboard to Mobile Safari, touch screen and bigger screen will take this new BBB. I suggest they just keep their BB curves or get a Bold and buy a nice little iPod touch to handle their other requirements. Then they get the best of both worlds. I probably will just go with the iPhone 2.0 which should patch up all of the iPhone's glaring weaknesses except no hard keyboard (which is a tradeoff against screen real estate) and no cut and paste.
Is the guy's name "Dieter Bone", because that's what I heard....and that's friggin' awesome.
Looked it up - "Dieter Bohn" - so awesome.
Must be a slow news day if someone taking a picture of the Bold next to the iPhone is a news story....Wow...
Who stuck Chiclets all over that iPhone?
What are you talking about? I take it you're making a clever joke, but I just can't figure out what it could be.
He's talking about the keyboard on the Bold...wasn't TOO subtle.
Blackberry runs the world when it comes to smartphones and no matter how many people think the iphone is better than the blackberry it still doesnt change that the blackberry has at least 50,000 companies in their enterprise servers not including the BIS subscribers in north america and western europe. iphone only has 250+. Damn windows mobile and symbian os smartphones has more subscribers than the iphone. but all in all everybody has their own opinion and it just more people like me choose blackberry over the iphone. same thing with the format war the hd dvd fanboys just cant accept that the blu is better. numbers dont lie blackberry is better and the bold is just better no matter what apple brings to the table with their iphone.
The BB has been around longer, so I don't really see how you can fairly compare them in that way.
For all you retards who keep bashing the iPhones
qwerty virtual keyboard yet have not actually used one yourself, do yourselves a favor and stfu. Im actually posting this with my iPhone, and I can tell you this keyboard is awesome and after a few days using it, youll be ever to type almost as fast you as you can with a regular keyboard. I mean how's it such a bad keyboard if it remembers every word you've ever typed and also fixes your mistakes if you hit a wrong key, hence the great speed-typing capabilities, huh!? If you've never used it just shut up, dont make yourselves look ignorant..=]
...youll be ever to type almost...
OOPS!
You must be a slow typer on a normal keyboard then.
Yes, because 60 WPM is slow, and "me" you want to talk about grammatical errors? How about starting a fucking sentence with an ellipses, why don't you go back to grade school. So i'll fix my error, I meant to say "you'll be able to...". Anyway wait until the apps store on iTunes comes out, then it will demolish the competition, especially with GPS and 3G networking. Bitches
Honestly not to cause controversy but could this guy be more bias. "I perfer the Iphone!!" after every step. Considering he is from theIphoneblog.com that makes sense. He looking at the calculator and makes it look as it you have to use the trackball to press numbers when you can TYPE THEM ON THE KEYBOARD. Jesus at least try no to look so bias. Even when he admits the bold has a better feature he goes and qualifies it with but the iphone is still better, ie the better screen res. but the Iphone is glass.
Oh, it doesn't have cover flip... ohhh thats it I jumping ship forget the 3g internet, the actual gps, or that its preproduction or that its software that a 3rd party can just create (legally or not). Thanks for the video but i could do without the editorializing.
What a joke.
I think they are both great phones, but in my opinion since i have to actually conduct business, it would be nice to have a keyboard to can really get a feel on.
this is so stupid, just pick a device that is good for yourself and don't knock it if you haven't tried it. Those people on this blog that is saying they like this and that about the bold, one question, how do you know, the device is not available yet. Who cares what is better, just decide what is best for your needs and usage. If you tried the virtual keyboard and don't like it and need to type alot, then get BB. If you like the apple integration with other apple product and the 3g web browsing then get the iphone. A Porsche can go much faster then a Yukon but a Yukon can towe much more and has much more storage space. If you have a boat to towe, get the Yukon. If you like to drive fast, look cool and pick up chicks, get the iphone.
I'm torn between the two and am no fan-boy either way. I'm a long-time BB user - am on my 6th, but find the iphone tempting. I think 3G will tip me over the edge. I will miss the size and I suspect I will really miss the keyboard, especially surreptitious one handed use in a meeting (I have a pearl currently). I like push e-mail. Current surfing is horrible, because of slowness (which 3g will clearly fix) but also because of screen real estate.
However, I really don't like how the BB does media. Roxio just isn't that easy to use. I want to be able to download media from itunes, esp. t.v. series and movies but also music - I find everything I watch is now dvr and I fly a lot, so wish I could catch up on the plane. I get jealous when I see the guy sitting next to me, watching an episode of 24 on his iphone
Question: I know this is improved on the Bold, but does anyone have direct experience with the new BB software in this regard?
