I know they're still some glitches, but they're getting better. At least they're learning from the mistakes of the US and UK, and making all new ones of their own. At least the economy is on the uptake there from where it was....and they have a decent arts scene :)
And there, the schools probably can teach the students well enough to understand the subtext behind "1984" so the students can understand implied surrealistic tones used in fantasy litterature to convey intent instead of having the students take everything on face value only without any use of expressed, out-of-the-box thinking
What would you prefer? A country like the UK where they make crazy announcements and then fail to implement them because either they have bitten off more than they can chew or they used a consultant like EDS who always screw up on big jobs like this. A country where no such announcements are made but they do instigate mass surveillance but deny it exists.

why English? a second language never hurt anyone. best way to learn is immersion.
US will most-likely take Canada to hell with it if they form the North American Union.
