Acer's Aspire Predator gaming PC gets previewed
Look out, Alienware -- your fancy new Area-51 ALX has a carnivore hot on its trail. The Acer Aspire Predator, which was officially unveiled yesterday, has already found its way into the loving arms of Bit-Tech. Over there, folks were able to spend a good bit of time with the rig, snap a smattering of photos and dish out some initial impressions. There's some pretty interesting tidbits to be had (for example, every single part possesses its own bar code, the motherboard is a customized MSI nForce 780i SLI, etc.), so be sure and tap the read link to get their view on how this beast will likely shake out.

Alien(ware) vs. Predator... only one can survive.
Predator?... Looks like they are getting at another well-known Gaming PC company ..
It looks cool, althought moving that stuff to access the drives etc.. might be a pain. The barcode on each part is interesting, and users can swap out specific parts and can order upgrades... That is also a good thing..
A step in the right direction...
Damn you! Samurai Jack!, I made a similar statement below...
My name is Hakuuuuuuuuuuuuu!
Is that like "Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!" ?
Swap the orange for grey, add a few blue highlights and voila! A gaming machine the Combine would be proud of. Now it just needs to start oppressing us (Or are you supposed to use it for that?).
Here's me working at the Acer call center when the original Acer Aspire came out:
"What is Telephony? Well, your PC works like an answering machine... "
Back then you got great Tech Support if you needed it. Now it's all outsourced to Costa Rica and the service is difficult to comprehend (unless you speak Spanish).
Acer Aspire's monitor was featured on an episode of Seinfeld. Maybe the new Aspire Predator will show up on 24 or Desperate Housewives. LOL
All I want is frikkin laser beams on it's head - is that too much to ask?
Just needs an aluminum wing spoiler, fart can exhaust and some neon and it'll be complete!
That is one sexy casing... Where I wouldn't buy the whole system, I would spend 200$ or so on the casing though .
Kind of a goofy design, though has a lot of superbike engine cowl appeal to it. Personally, I think the hinges for the front panel look like crap. A faux hydraulic pair of actuators would've been a pretty nice touch to finish off that ubertech that stands still look. In either case, this is not nearly as ugly as those damn Alienware cases. Satan Almighty, those things are ugly.
Oh, and I forgot to add.
Though I think the hinges are ugly, I think it's cool that it allows you to lift the access panel away from the face while not actually detaching it, though it seems a bit messy to look at.
"You are one... UGLY m*th*rf*ck*r!"
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Predator
wow...no alien vs predator jokes. I'm disappointed... :-|
That's because AVP sucks, and Paul W.S. Anderson is pure, mother-loving evil.
Looks like a backhoe!
Anyone know if this case is available by itself? Be a good start of a radical case mod....
I think it looks very good, very Iron-man meets Transformer meets Lamborgini.
Only sticking point is I really don't need a huge door to cover the front it's daft.
can i just get the case?
The geek in me loves the look of this thing, but I still cant help but feel that I'd be much more likely to buy one if it didn't have such an "I've-never-been-touched-by-a-woman-and-live-in-hope-that-someone-will-invent-a-sexbot-that-looks-like-Samus-Aran" kind of feel to it... Is that just me?
It is a true style, not a bland white and overprice mac!!
WOW!
Finally, a nicely designed PC case.
Look Optimus! The new Decepticon. "Trash truck"!

that thing looks awesome.
Blame Trip Hawkins (former CEO of 3DO and now CEO of Digital Chocolate) for the 1 button mouse. He fought his ass off when he was at Apple to make sure that their mice shipped with only one clicker - and he's quite proud of it.
