projectiondesign demos single projector 1080p 3D system

projectiondesign is apparently working on a 3D projection-based solution to fit anyone's need. If a rotating panoramic display or eight camera visualization system seems like overkill, try its latest 2D/3D 1080p projector on for size. When driven by a dual-head PC via DVI it can deliver 3D in 1080p at 60Hz from a single projector, courtesy of a pair of active wireless glasses kept in sync with the projector via IR. AVING reports the system is expected in Korea in September and has a few more pics from the presentation, but your guess is as good as ours as to when this might be available in the U.S., and at what cost.

pretty neat solution, but i think the best thing about this is that on the front page of engadget, we have a slide that has "CONFIDENTIAL - INTERNAL USE ONLY" across the bottom

Damn, beaten by seconds...

I'm sure someone is thrilled that their "Confidential - Internal Use Only" powerpoint slide is on one of the largest tech news sites on the web...

I'm sorry, but science fiction promised us 3D images WITHOUT glasses. So if these researchers are unwilling to break the rules of physics to accommodate Fiction, they might as well give up.

Wouldnt the IR glasses limit where you could view the projection from? Would still be interesting to see..

HEY I RECOGNIZE THAT VIDEO CARD !
It can play CRYSIS !
elorahranma @ May 22nd 2008 10:24AM
It can fly several inches above the floor while tricking your visual nerves to believe you have a 3D plane in front of you. I can't say it plays Crysis, but for sure it can make you think it does.

OMG NO WAY.
OneLove @ May 22nd 2008 10:58AM
...and it doesn't need a computer.
pokey @ May 22nd 2008 10:53AM
It's just like the Sega Master System 3d glasses, but more than 20 years later and higher res. Fail.

They're projecting a projection of the 3D projector projecting a jet fighter?
Whoa.
liyqatali @ May 22nd 2008 1:05PM
think you

The multiple projector approach could offer better visuals: LCD response time could blur the frames intended for separate eyes.
