Briefcase brigade alert: The
performance mini-notebook field (yeah, we just made that up) just got a bit more interesting with Hypersonic PC's Avenger AG2. This little 12 incher may their smallest and lightest, but it packs a punch. Laced with an Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 at 2.5GHz and a 6MB L2 cache, optional SSD, a 12.1-inch WXGA screen at 1280x800, Bluetooth, 1.3MP cam, WiFi, card reader, and Windows Vista Home Premium, this multicolored lappy is nothing to sneeze at -- unless you're allergic to Vista. Base price is about $1,300, fully spec'd will hit you at around $2,500.

i am certailnly alergic top vista, what a load of trash it is.
aaahatchoo!!!!
aaahatchoo ... isn't that the latest distro of linux?
Vista is actually equalling and beating XP in recent test.

i am no Linux enthusiast, all i was doing was parodying the penultimate statement made in the engadget narrative. i have transgressed no legal bindings nor have i infringed any rights of the parties involved.
the fact that xp is available is no concern of mine, please refer to my statement of several hours ago when i said nothing, except that vista is not to my liking. numerous surveys have been conducted by various companies corroborating the fact the majority of the world population agree with me.
any claims should please be made to the legal representative who currently is not in existence!!!!
thank you for your time and i hope to be hearing from you in the near future!!
actually if u go to the website...u can get it with xp.
any other complaints?
Give me discrete graphics or give me death.
Seriously, what's the point of a 2.5Ghz dual core in a laptop if not for games? Running bitchin' Access queries while on a plane?
Yeah. Pretty much.
Oh dawg! Those there are some bitchin' Access queries! Yo, lay that sh*t on a report for me!
They dont mention a graphics card, so this system is useless, whats the point in a 2.5ghz dual core as juan says if thers no gaming capability.
well media playback for one, it helps, as well as if you want to do some video encoding for two
Photography? Out in the field work?
M
Porn.
Any other questions?
any intensive program will run better with more hurts.... it hertz me to think of how you fail to understand that
This is a Clevo M72r / XXODD Xni 720R / Sager Notebooks NP7250
OLDNEWS IS TAKING OVER ENGADGET!
Actually, the Clevo is spec'd with an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7100 (1.8GHz, 65nm, FSB800, 2MB L2, 478pin, uFC-PGA Socket-P) or Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7300/T7500/T7700 (2.0/2.2/2.4GHz, 65nm, FSB800, 4MB L2, 478pin, uFC-PGA Socket-P). Unless you know something I don't.
There reallu isn't very much wrong with Vista.
Just frame-rates, battery life, hot running laptops, 3 times ass much disk space........................oh yeah ;)
Oh, there's also:
Battery Saving Features
DirectX10
Image Preview
Windows Firewall
Windows Defender
UAC (depending on who you are)
Superfetch
Sidebar
Bit Locker
Sync Center
Aero(If you don't like it, turn it off ;) )
Tablet PC support
Readyboost
Easier Wireless Networking
Desktop Window Manager
Can be instantly changed to one of at least 5 languages
Flip and Flip 3D
You know...just a couple things.
Get on the ball, fourthletter, as at least one of your criteria is gone. Most tests of Vista SP1 show it's performance to be about the same as XP's in games.
I like OS-X. Go ahead and low rank me or call me a fanboy but I loved the stylings of Tiger, and I also liked a lot of things about vista, and disliked some... and Leopard is like they took all the good things from each and none of the bad... Until windows 9 or whatever comes out I'll stick with XP on bootcamp :)
Maybe I'll pick one of these up when I go to Canada in a few months... small laptops which pack a punch at a decent price are hard to come by, especially in the UK.
kinda late but here's the full specs..

Got this at laptoping.com....
"Minimum 72-Hour Burn-in & testing with 128-Point Quality Control Process"
Wow, hence the price tag I guess.
Yeah man, Hypersonic doesn't mess around. I bought a GX7 years back, and it came with my specific laptop's benchmarks in Quake III and Unreal Tournament, as well as the log sheet for the burn-in. Quality Clevo reseller.
why would you need a 72-hour burn-in testing when the warranty far out-exceeds it?
@sinai: the test is to reduce the product servicing return rate, as well as minimising the fault rate plus extending the product life in the consumer world (strict brand image preservation). Any flaws that existed would have been dealt with internally. It's just QC essentially but at a higher level.
It's a double reassurance for the customers too, of course.
@sinai: You never had a Dell shipped DOA, I suppose?
The burn in is so you can be sure you don't have to send it back right away, saving you valuable time and lost income from not having a laptop, not to mention aggravation and pulled hair. Great service, IMHO, I wish more manufacturers would do that.
PS: Yes I did have a Dell shipped DOA. It just wouldn't turn on. Dead piece of plastic. Dell service sent a guy the next day who could do nothing but conclude it had to be sent back (bad mainboard). Total days lost: 4. In fact, I had to start work at my new job right away so I couldn't wait for that and ordered an Acer instead. Which was delivered the next day and turned out to be wonderful. The Dell was later given to another employee.
and that is why i never buy dell.
@nikster: Just out of interest: did that home visit service come with your machine or was it a premium warranty? And was that in the US?
@sinai: I've never used Dell before, but I've been told by a client that his company uses just Dell machines (at least 50 I recall), and they've had no hardware problem at all in the past 5 years at least.
I know this has already been mentioned, but I can't believe they're marketing this as a performance notebook when the thing has intel GMA graphics.
I kinda like this, I always had a soft spot for sub15" laptops, and this thing having such a nice CPU seems really awesome, but the X3100 kills it...
Woah this is a pretty neat 12" laptop. I like how they let you choose to get it without OS for 185 beans less. I got a pretty nice config for 1314 total, shipping seems to be free. I have just never heard of this company before. Anyone have any experience with them?
That price is in beans?! Boy are they suckers! I have a big bag with atleast 2000 beans in it in the pantry!
What kind of graphics card does it have? Im in the market for a new laptop, and if it has a 9500m or better I'm sold.
someone explain to me the concept of a ultra-portable pc with a cpu that requires you carry around the power brick?
You are right the 4 cell battery is a big dampener. The Penryn doesn't use all that much battery but 4 cells is tiny... damn!
Hey, its better than what I have!
I very rarely get excited about a PC notebook, but if I had to buy one, this would be it.
Awesome stuff:
- 72h burn in test
- Penryn
- Black is an option
- Neat looks
- 4GB RAM costs just $45 extra (take that Dell, Apple...)
No dedicated graphics but come on, the intersection of people who are seriously into gaming and buy 12" laptops for that purpose is going to be very small. I'd rather have the better battery life of the integrated chipset.
Addendum: Except for that miniscule battery, as Sinai pointed out above. Guess I will stick with my MacBook Pro...
i wish the pro came in black.
Damn this thing is painted like a Lambo....they should've added the Lambo Raging Bull Logo on the cover....
