Nintendo brings DS wireless service to Japanese McDonald's
Stateside DS gamers can already get online using free WiFi at McDonald's, but now Nintendo's bringing a slightly different version of the service to Japanese McD's: customers can log in to get menu information and download free game demos. The service is being rolled out at 21 Tokyo-area restaurants with an assist from NTT, which also provides DS wireless service at Japanese train stations, so things should get lit up fairly smoothly. You'd better hurry if you want to join in on the fun, though: the test program ends on December 28th.

this would be cool if you could order on the ds, then get a page back when its ready
Aguiluz @ May 27th 2008 5:20PM
So I can place lots of orders and piss of the employees when nobody comes to get it?
Pepsipoint @ May 28th 2008 2:57AM
Wow. so finally you can become uber lazy by not even getting up and going to the line to order? perhaps with your ds we can add some gps so that the mcployee can find you instead of you even getting up?
velocitySTRIKE @ May 27th 2008 5:31PM
I'm not sure why it'd wouldn't be easier to just look at the menus on the walls instead of booting up your DS to check them out. Not as fun, yes, but still..

Can I use the McDonald's wireless service to order a pizza from Papa Johns?
iPriest @ May 27th 2008 5:34PM

yeah...you're right...ordering things over the web is an insane idea that would never catch on...especially in japan...fake orders are just too big an obstacle to overcome - i mean, i cant think of even one possible way to do it
Ignatius @ May 27th 2008 6:39PM
You can order pizza online. It's just a matter of a credit card.
Twitchy @ May 27th 2008 7:51PM
Thanks Cpt. Obviou..Ignatius.
BTW, you fail at sarcasm interpretation.

Apple did this years ago, at Burger King, with 10g iphones. And the menu was a 3-D Leopard room with sexy fembots throwing whoppers at each other. And game demos.
Twilight Elk @ May 27th 2008 5:53PM
...and we ALL know how that went :\

I have yet to find a McDonalds with free WiFi for DS. They lied. Or my area is even farther back in the stone age than I realize.
asurroca @ May 27th 2008 10:24PM
Sorry, your area really is that far back in the stone age apparently...the one time I bothered to open up my DS and check, most of the McDs in my areas had a Wi-Fi hotspot.... Don't worry, you're not missing out...I'm pretty sure no one uses it.
Pepsipoint @ May 28th 2008 2:58AM
um. the fat guy with the holes in the floor and the baby yelling bam bam didn't give that away yet?
Ayle @ May 27th 2008 6:05PM
I wish they would issue an update to support wpa. Because their is no way in hell I'm downgrading to wep for that..
Kawaiipikachu @ May 27th 2008 7:47PM
No the DA inbuilt software is built into the rom which can only be witten on once at the factory which is unlike the Wii .
While the Wii has 200mb of internal flash used for built in OS & channels which being on the internal flash meaning the software can be updated .
Volvagia356 @ May 28th 2008 4:46AM
@Kawaiipikachu
Who says they can't, heard of FlashMe? I've reflashed my DS two times already.
sleet01 @ May 27th 2008 8:22PM
