Apple updates Leopard to 10.5.3
For the legions of Mac users out there annoyed with Leopard niggles, some possible relief is now available, as Apple has made version 10.5.3 available to users via software update. The new version has a slew of minor adjustments, including fixes for AirPort and networking reliability issues, Time Machine and Time Capsule updates (including improved compatibility with Aperture), and improved Spaces usability. Anyone out there taken the plunge yet? Let us know how it's going.

All is fine on my BlackBook as well.
*shrugs*
No issues so far and Spaces (my biggest complain in Leopard) finally seems to be working as expected. So, no longer does Spaces change me to a new Space when I select an application that has a window open in the current Space, or forget which application I was using in a Space that I switch to and default to the Finder instead. I can feel myself getting calmer by the moment.
So far, it looks like 10.5.3 may be the Leopard release where Leopard comes good. Unfortunately, my cynicism says that this is the release that should have appeared on store shelves in the first place, rather than the bug-o-rama that was 10.5.0.
I installed 10.5.3 last night. As it was, I hadn't had to much trouble with the 10.5.2 patch and complaints with some of the bugs reported. 10.5.3 takes significantly longer to get to a 'fully loaded' state. It takes a very long time to get the items on the menu bar loaded. I can hear the HD head readin' and writin' away. After it gets loaded, it appears that it runs about the same, some apps may be a little slower. This was loaded on a MBP 2.2
Anybody else experiencing problems saving large Photoshop files to a network drive after installing this patch? I seem to be creating files that don't open and are corrupt. This is happening with both of the people in our office that ran this thing....
Anyone know if this fixes the Boot Camp error which is not allowing me to partition my internal drive in 10.5.2 correctly?
Not sure if it just coincidence, but I have been using Mac Office 2008 for just about a week with out any issues. But, ever since yesterday's update it has been REALLY quirky. I am a big user of OS X Spaces. I usually run Word, Excel or PowerPoint in space one, Firefox and other random apps in space 2 and Mail in space 3. When I move from space 1 (Office) to any other space and then back to space 1, the formatting palette moves to space 3 (Mail). Random Excel files insist on opening in space 3. And, random Word and Excel files open behind other open applications and windows. The only way to bring them to the front is to minimize the windows in front of it. I am assuming this is due to the "improved Spaces usability." Has anybody else experienced something like this?
Install went well (192 MB, MBP 2.2 Ghz Merom), just took a while, especially after install "finished" – first boot took a while.
I'm running it now. When it first booted after the install, it failed during startup, and restarted. Then, just now, it was asleep, but the light that strobes slowly when asleep was stuck on, and it wouldn't wake up. Is it possible to go back to 10.5.2?
Didn't fix my wireless issues...
Bought my MacBook November of last year and wireless has been a horrible PITA since day 1. It shows as connected but the signal strength indicator suddenly sheds a bar or two and my internet connectivity evaporates.
I've tried various workarounds, different routers, security settings - nada. I constantly have to click the signal strength indicator, which restores connectivity for a few seconds, or turn airport off/on, which sometimes fixes the issue (until I shut down) but oftentimes it just keeps doing it.
I've kept my fingers crossed for every update to fix this, and been crushed every time. Apple support is, of course, no help at all.
One thing I noticed is in the Time Machine options you can now opt to back up while on battery power.
DO NOT INSTALL THIS UPDATE if you use Photoshop CS3 and work over a network. It is corrupting files.

I have lost hours of work to this bug.
Unbelievable.
If you actually read adobes site, it says that working over a network is NOT supported, so... duh.
And yes, I know that it worked for the most part previously, but why TF would you work with sensitive/important/large projects over a network? Especially photoshop? Slow as SHIT.
move your shit local. Work on it. Save it. THEN store it on the network...
geesh...
Hey, When in Rome...
Anyone took syncing contacts with google for a spin????
software update wouldnt work, just hangs on configuring update and then screwed up my machine - which I couldnt reinstall 10.5.2 - useless. Worked out i could install the combo update DLd from apple directly. seems OK - so far...!
I might have found something here, I was playing with safari and I'm not sure if this is new to 10.5.3 or safari 3.1 but try dragging the tabs from safari to the desktop. You might be surprised.
