Nyko ships Charge Base 360, first 200 come from 1986
It's about time 360 owners get some rechargeable Nyko love via the Charge Base 360, which is shipping to stores at a $34.99 clip. So why should you care? This charger / controller storage solution comes with two NiMH drop-in (i.e. shaped for your 360 controller) rechargeable batteries that promise to make your gaming downtime a lot less extant. Nyko says a single charge will provide "up to" 25 hours of play time while charge time takes about 2 hours per controller. If you act quickly, you could get one of the limited 80s coffee table-friendly Black & Gold-colored units which go on sale June 2.

I like the Play and Charge Kit more - and all that is is just a usb wire.
Normally when my controller's battery bottoms out, I just hook up the wire and keep on playing.
That *would* be the point of the "play" AND "charge" kit eh?
I agree though, why only charge when you can play and charge?
Except it's got god-awful charge time. This charges very quickly. Also, you can't charge while the 360's off with the play n' charge kit (at least I can't, so I use my iPod's USB to wall charge adapter...don't you love the irony in that?)
Mine charge while it's off, the 360's ports are always powered. Just buy a USB fan and plug it into your 360 while it's off, you'll see. I don't charge my controllers and headset off the 360 though, my alarm clock has a USB port (it's that Philips one with the 7" screen) so I charge off the clock.
@Jarhead,
Yeah, I use a spare iPod charger as my XBox controller charger as well with play 'n charge. Actually those iPod chargers are so handy, I love the fact that when Apple went from Firewire to USB they kept the block-with-a-plug modular design. I use the iPod charger to charge everything when I travel; phone, BT headset, etc.
Is it just me or does this base look like a vaporizer?
I own a play and charge kit that I never, ever use. What is the point of using a wireless controller if you have to play with it plugged in at times to charge it?
Instead I just got a quick charge cradle and keep one battery pack in it. When my battery dies, I pop it out and put in the one from the cradle, takes 5 seconds and I stay wireless the whole time.
That's how my Xbox 360 controllers, looked after I spray painted them.
"That's how my Xbox 360 controllers, looked after I spray painted them."
I'm guessing you mean, That's how my Xbox 360 controllers looked, after I spray painted them. Not trying to be a grammar Nazi, I wanted to clear it up before someone insults your grammar.
I like the way you fail at grammar more.
Hmm... I guess it's a big deal that I didn't insert a quote properly.
Yeah, I mis-placed the comma there.
You misplaced a comma? I think I found it somewhere.
Here it is!
,
"Yeah I mis-placed, the comma there."
...just kidding
Alright, geez. You English and your language.
360 controller charge at the front (between the triggers). this doesnt look like it has anything connected there.
that doesnt look like the most practical stand to charge 360 controllers
@Abuzar:
if u want truly black controllers, you can splice a black 360 controller with one of the Halo 3 edition controllers. That way u can get and all black shell, with black dpad and thumbsticks. then all u need to do is spray paint the ABXY and guide buttons.
it looks very 1337, trust me
"This charger / controller storage solution comes with two NiMH drop-in (i.e. shaped for your 360 controller) rechargeable batteries that promise to make your gaming downtime a lot less extant."
The words under the picture provide more details.
lol
I actually spray painted my d-pad black too. It cools pretty cool.
Next up, I'm spray painting my controller black except for the triggers, the top part, D-Pad, and start and select buttons. Those are going to be Metallic Silver. You just gotta get paint that bonds with the plastic.
I hope this Nyko product is better than the one (with associated batteries) I purchased (long ago for almost $50) for my wii.

Total crap.
I have that same wiimote charge station, and I couldn't be happier. What don't you like about it? Is it because you have to remove your tardo Nerf cases?
LOL@ tardo Nerf cases
lol. No, I don't mind removing my tardo Nerf cases (which I like). I don't even mind having to take off the strap on occasion to get the remotes to charge. It's the times when, for the life of me, I can't seem to get the wiimote seated in the cradle sufficiently to get the "okay, I'm charging" blue light. Sometimes the wiimote will charge anyway. Sometimes it won't. Of three friends that have the system, two have similar problems.
i wonder what the premium will be on the color scheme
Well I think these look great! I really like Nyko's products in general and its about time 360 owners got something like this imho. Y'ALL BE TRIPPIN AN' SH!T!
wow.
Who made that amazing PS3 charging dock that looked like sex? Wasn't it Nyko? Maybe not, but whoever it was should make one for the 360.
That would look really sweet next to my Atari 2600 with the wood grain...
That thing is F uckin huge! Fuck that give me a small controller and a battery charger...
that what she said, and what she said afterwards
and a mudslide can make you forget to " 's "
Mommy, where do XBox controllers come from?
These will only work with the special Nyko batteries. If you go to the main (white) product page ( http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=132 ), you can see the special connectors on the batteries.
Not bad... Might be worth it for me down the road. Still, it's nowhere near as sexy as the charging stand I have for my PS3:

surely im not the only one to think that those 2 controllers were getting it on.
