Except it's got god-awful charge time. This charges very quickly. Also, you can't charge while the 360's off with the play n' charge kit (at least I can't, so I use my iPod's USB to wall charge adapter...don't you love the irony in that?)
Mine charge while it's off, the 360's ports are always powered. Just buy a USB fan and plug it into your 360 while it's off, you'll see. I don't charge my controllers and headset off the 360 though, my alarm clock has a USB port (it's that Philips one with the 7" screen) so I charge off the clock.
Yeah, I use a spare iPod charger as my XBox controller charger as well with play 'n charge. Actually those iPod chargers are so handy, I love the fact that when Apple went from Firewire to USB they kept the block-with-a-plug modular design. I use the iPod charger to charge everything when I travel; phone, BT headset, etc.
Is it just me or does this base look like a vaporizer?
I own a play and charge kit that I never, ever use. What is the point of using a wireless controller if you have to play with it plugged in at times to charge it?
Instead I just got a quick charge cradle and keep one battery pack in it. When my battery dies, I pop it out and put in the one from the cradle, takes 5 seconds and I stay wireless the whole time.

I like the Play and Charge Kit more - and all that is is just a usb wire.
Normally when my controller's battery bottoms out, I just hook up the wire and keep on playing.
That *would* be the point of the "play" AND "charge" kit eh?
I agree though, why only charge when you can play and charge?
