Robosoft shows off Microsoft Robotics Studio-based service robot

It looks like France's Robosoft is keen on getting its robots into as many places as possible, with it now following up its RobuCab and RobuDog with a service robot designed to help the elderly and disabled. Like the RobuDog, this one makes heavy use of Microsoft Robotics Studio, and provides just about all the features you'd expect from a 24-hour monitoring bot, including daily reminders, remote teleconferencing abilities, scaring off of house pets, and alerts if the patient falls or is in trouble. The company apparently even hopes to add cleaning capabilities to the mix, although there's no indication as to when the robot will actually be put into service. Head on past the break for a glimpse of it in action.

I wish they spent more money on educating humans instead of making robots...

It would mean your jokes are old and unfunny.

hey that's OK RC, some people don't let frothing fanboyism get in the way of a good chuckle

The robotics lab software has a sweet concurrency library for .Net, the concurrency and coordination runtime (CCR). Its good.
I'd like to see their other software suites that come with the robotics software. I wonder if it'll run in Mono.

But, will it run Flight Simulator?

Lots of people are building these "telepresence" robots. They are useless, unfortunately, because they don't have arms and can't actually pick things up off the floor.
When are robot builders going to stop screwing around and build something real?

It's a good thing Windoze runs on Macs now. That thing is made of a Mac Mini. First Silverlight running on OS X & Linux, now this. Things ARE different without Bill Gates.
