You're doing it wrong.
iPod Touches don't have pressure sensitive touch screens. Just making contact is enough, there's no need to put any amount of pressure on the screen. Falling backward should not be a problem.
It only weighs 55 grams - so there may be a consideration - but double stick tape or a small barbell should hold it in place or a gaffers sand bag...

A) what arrogance. Do you ever do page layouts? My $2500 wacom 21 monitor rotates, and comes off the stand. You're right, though...it's completely useless.

There's nothing similar between the two - and I agree with the above poster that your design looks absolutely awful, whilst this is simple, fun and even seems to serve more of a purpose that your crap contraption.

Uh...no it doesn't. Your stand is to "car" as Kia is to car: it has four wheels. THIS stand has sweet design...not to be overlooked in an Apple-based product. Not only does it have to work, it has to look this cool.

Yes there seems to be a major design flaw. As soon as you touch it to navigate the UI it will tip over backwards. Whats the point of that? Unless you have to stick it to your desk.
I'm guessing it's more for watching movies or that kind of thing.

Looks amazing! On another note, that iPod looks different to me than the currently shipping model, as the dock connector is offset. And the back looks like the back of the iMac. (Unless that is part of the connector)
The slot is longer like that to accommodate the headphone jack -- but this is also a computer rendering so there are some particulars that aren't perfect.
I imagine that it needs a sticky rubber base to work .. good design I think.

I like how its completely shapeable, and works great in many different situations, because you can change the "height" at which your iPhone sits. I have happily used it on airplanes and by the pool as well as on my desk to watch all sorts of movies on my iPhone.

that is a neat addon for your iTouch. I'm seeing all kinds of neat addons for the iPhone & iTouch lately, such the iControlPad and the Mic from the Touchmods team. It would be funny if someone made a parody of someone actually using that as a computer.

I think that they could make this so the base is either heavy enough or cantilevered to be able to be "touched". I like that is can also be tilted.
I would definitely buy this and if they make one for an iPhone, I'd buy that, too.

I really like this, I hope it works with iPhone too. BTW, that crazy PED3 stand some people are linking to is fugly. Why would you buy a beautiful iPod and put it on an ugly stand, sort of defeats the purpose. Either get this one or get no stand are my choices.
