E-TEN busts out three new WinMo 6.1 smartphones
Actually, E-TEN's saying they're showing four new models here, but we've been aware of E-TEN's glofiish quad-band V900 for some time now, leaving three all-new Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphones on display at Computex this week. The DX900 is a dual-SIM smartphone for those on multiple carriers and comes in a form factor very similar to the aforementioned mobile TV-friendly V900. Meanwhile, the X900 is a quad-band GSM handset with HSDPA and is a basic upgrade to the X800 with Windows Mobile 6.1 and a tweaked UI. Finally, the X610 -- an update to the X600 -- also runs WinMo 6.1 and a similarly-updated interface.

wes @ Jun 3rd 2008 1:27PM
UGH! why why why must this always be the first comment about everything that isn't an iphone?
baylad @ Jun 3rd 2008 1:46PM
nice phone
iEye @ Jun 3rd 2008 2:48PM

'iPhone!' is the new 'First!'
happy_penguin @ Jun 3rd 2008 1:28PM
That's pretty. If I didn't already love my iPhone I might consider this.
tmoney @ Jun 3rd 2008 2:02PM
Would love to know how heavy/thick it is and have a full 3 inch screen across, but this looks like the first in what the next gen of pocket pc's will be. Gotta love the full VGA with new UI.
happy_penguin @ Jun 3rd 2008 2:44PM
Low ranked? Where is the love!? *sniff*
Syed @ Jun 3rd 2008 2:49PM
Apple praise is dangerous territory my friend. I think everyone's frustrated with the ridiculous amount of Apple fanboyism going around these days.
happy_penguin @ Jun 3rd 2008 2:55PM
Sorry, but if I was a 'fanboy' I would have said something like "This is a piece of shit, APPLE RULEZ!"
I hate fanboyisms and they suck in all forms.
Syed @ Jun 3rd 2008 2:58PM
Never said you were one dude. Kinda meant that iEye guy, such a douche good lord...
Mile @ Jun 3rd 2008 1:35PM
Who will carry it?
Frank Furter @ Jun 3rd 2008 1:47PM
Sure love my iPhone. Heh.
I got a sick feeling in my stomach just reading those menu items. "Sign in to Windows Live". Gads. Because we all know access to Windows Live is top priority.
Zak @ Jun 3rd 2008 1:55PM
This is a perfect example of how to make a phone with a big screen not look like an iPhone, in response to those of you who were asking how it could be done over in the Samsung thread. Look at it, it looks nothing like an iPhone. It's not that hard to simply not copy the iPhone.
riggs @ Jun 3rd 2008 3:06PM
yet there are a bunch of idiots still saying it does?
Zak @ Jun 3rd 2008 3:47PM
Where?
Steffen Jobbs @ Jun 3rd 2008 2:09PM
Yes, it's nice that this is not an imitation iPhone. As long as there are not any claims that it's an iPhone killer or something, then it's fine. It has it's own distinctive look and it seems fully featured and even offers mobile TV.
If it weren't for the fruity company and June 9th, it might have stood a chance of decent sales, but in a week this Glofiish will be a long forgotten memory to the tech-media and buyers alike.
Victor @ Jun 3rd 2008 2:09PM
This is almost perfect for my father. He carries around 3 SIM cards though (1 German, 1 Taiwan, 1 China) for work. This might slim down his nerdy belt-holster lineup a bit
xiux @ Jun 3rd 2008 2:12PM
so, still only 64mb of ram like all other glofiish?
DestroyerMTL @ Jun 4th 2008 9:04AM
Yeah WTF is with that? 64mb is completely ridiculous. Every time I look at my task manager on my Excalibur or Tytn (HTC I know), I shake with bitterness at the lack of free megabytes!
Phoenix @ Jun 4th 2008 4:57PM
Especially when the Raphael has 288MB... 4.5 times as much.
Vidit Bhargava @ Jun 3rd 2008 2:16PM
smart looking phone...should have the standard features on a smartphone these days
so many smartphones flowing in these days...SE,HTC,E-Ten,O2,Nokia,Samsung,LG, Apple and many others
all having more or less the same specs...looks and UI will matter the most amongst these
Marty @ Jun 3rd 2008 2:22PM
I just assume that iPhone people are speaking tongue-in-cheek and making funnies for the rest of us. I mean, the comment, "iphones are jus the wave of the future right now" is even something the hardest of hardcore Apple fans can laugh at.
I thought all E-Tens were just re-badged HTCs... not only that, but they are import-only for the U.S.? I've never seen a U.S. carrier offer Eten.
What I'm getting at is I don't understand how anyone is criticizing this phone when,
a. Most are just re-badged phones (I would love to see a company re-badge an iPhone and see how many people knock it)
b. how you gonna talk about sales when it's not even offered in the same markets as the phones you're comparing it to?
Phoenix @ Jun 3rd 2008 5:17PM
No, they're not rebadged HTCs
Cagrino @ Jun 3rd 2008 2:52PM
Has anyone else noticed that E-TEN usually puts out what seems like an awesome device until you look further into it and somehow they always have some kind of built in deal breaker?
Syphon Filter @ Jun 3rd 2008 3:05PM
Looks a lot like an HTC Touch if you ask me...
Phoenix @ Jun 3rd 2008 5:18PM
Agreed. so have ALL of E-TEN's new devices for a while
ALSO, these aren't smartphones, these are POCKET PCs
Smartphone = no touch screen
Matt @ Jun 3rd 2008 5:53PM
"dual-SIM smartphone"
Does this mean I can use it on Sprint and AT&T? If so, I can stop carrying two freggin phones... goodbye work 7100i
DestroyerMTL @ Jun 4th 2008 9:08AM
Not going to happen unfortunately. Sprint is CDMA, no sim cards there.
