ModeLabs launches Bluetrek Metal: thinnest BT headset on Earth
Every so often, we hear of yet another headset manufacturer claiming that their latest piece is in fact the smallest / lightest / most incredulous the world has ever seen. With the introduction of ModeLabs' Bluetrek Metal, you can rest assured that everything is still running par for the course. This Bluetooth headset checks in at just 4-millimeters thick and 5.5-grams, and we're told that the internal battery should last through 5-hours of yappin' or a week in sleep mode. Interestingly, we haven't a clue if this one's headed Stateside, but those in Europe can pop one in their ear canal soon for €39 ($61) / €49 ($76) depending on hue.

Any word on UK price if available?
nice! but honestly, how many designs can you have? no matter they look like what you're still gonna look dorky
-what
bah... too early in the morning.
edit: no matter what they look like, you're still gonna look like a dork.
Agreed! I think the first bt headset that actually looks like I might buy one is the 925 from Plantronics: http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/products/mobile/bluetooth-headsets/discovery-925-black
They are at least the closest to what might be considered a socially acceptable earpiece.... still need to make them smaller... but gotta keep the boom cuz the ear-only ones have terrible voice quality and too much bg noise for the other side.
Funny wasabi, but my brain actually inserted the word "what" and I didn't see it missing the first time.
That's Pretty Hot...
Oh it's a headset, I was looking at the picture thinking why is there a picture of an auction hammer.
"...in fact the smallest / lightest / most incredulous the world has ever seen."
Incredulous? The bluetooth headset is incredulous? No, no. People may have an incredulous view of the bluetooth headset; that's perfectly acceptable.
It's sad to have to give a blog writer advice on English, but just because you can use long words doesn't mean that you should i.e. it doesn't make sense.
Look at how small the button(s) is/are...
You know how many BT headsets I've lost already? That's what I need, something even smaller... :-)
When is this coming to India?
The problem is you can never figure out how to sync your boothtooth to your dam device. They don't need smaller headsets, they need to make them simple enough for your mom to use. Don't give me this crap that you can use them anyone can. Lots of people have had problems with this issue.
I hope they didn't skimp on the incredibly bright flashing blue light on the side.
Between the BT headset, the various chargers and the BT dongle on my laptop, I feel like I sleep in a disco sometimes.
BlueTrek? No thanks. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than buy their garbage. One time was enough. Lousy design, shoddy workmanship, non-existent support... I'm sticking with Plantronics. At least they stand behind their products.
2 design ideas I have yet to see are:
1. Uhuras' ear piece from the original Star Trek
2. Something like a big beetle clamed over your ear.
With these small ones people wonder if you have a mental disorder and you talking to yourself. At least with my suggestions there would be no doubt about it.
OMG It just sucked itself into my head!!
I think that the Apple iPhone Bluetooth Headset still been the smallest headset on the world!
Thin Battery Life?!
