Samsung's YP-S2 pebble skips out in Korea
They are here. Samsung's satisfyingly bulbous S2 "pebble" MP3 player was just released in S.Korea. DNSe audio processing, five colors, and MP3, WMA, and OGG support now yours in 1GB ?49,000 (about $54) or 2GB for ?59,000 (about $65) models. Neato.

Similar to the mac stock wallpaper stones, but no screen = no buy thanks
Mason Trang @ Jun 4th 2008 1:44AM
are you serious,
you look at the picture and you associate the stones with Apple?
thats fanboy-ism at its finest.
(Disclaimer: I have a MacbookPro and a iPod and everything. I like Apple products and all....)
vileta2 @ Jun 4th 2008 1:08AM
nicely-priced to say the least.

No love for AAC?
Jon Doe. @ Jun 4th 2008 1:44AM
No one loves AAC but Apple. If they did I and had HD's larger then 80GB I would have dropped the iPod's ass years ago.
Mobile Phone Diva @ Jun 4th 2008 10:17AM
Jon, newer Sony players, Creative Zen and the Samsung P2 also accept AAC. Also the Zune.

when will companies realize that making pmp's shaped like stones
is Not good industrial design
Mason Trang @ Jun 4th 2008 1:48AM
why is that?
i'm not trying to argue that it is....
i personally like it, but its really personal preference.
and the stone shape.... theres a creative zen stone, i think its funny samsung couldn't copy and they changed the name to pebble.
plaka999 @ Jun 4th 2008 10:34AM
And why not? This may sound a bit, err perv-y or something, but ever find yourself inadvertantly touching your phone while it's on the table, or in your hand? How about fidgeting around with your keys while they're in your hand? I think it's interesting that they moved away from 'box with rounded edges' to 'rounded edges are fun to touch, let's make it like a rock or pebble. ' Industrial design is more than just being about how something looks...

2:1 odds Deutsche Telekom sues Samsung over use of Pebble name.

Actually ₩49,000 is a little less than $49.
The won has been hurting since February..
Rynth @ Jun 4th 2008 5:28AM
So has the Dollar?
Big Al @ Jun 4th 2008 8:46AM
@ Rynth
The Korean Won has taken a bigger hit. Last year the exchange rate was low as 930won to $1. Now it's 1020won to $1. The Korean economy relies on us to buy to their gadgets, so a recession in the US can hurt Korea more than other countries.

Ahh yes, OGG support, with 1GB of memory. I'll be able to get at least 3 songs on there.
iEye @ Jun 4th 2008 7:29AM
So one cannot clip this to his/her shirt? not a very good design other than the circular control pad... :-p
maff @ Jun 4th 2008 9:22AM

Can't wait for the motorola law suit.
Eli Gundry @ Jun 4th 2008 6:01PM
Didn't Motorola have a Pebble phone with a similar ad campagin?
sam Y @ Jun 12th 2008 3:44PM
Oh, it comes out finally.
It's good design (shiny red) with moderate price.
Small size & no LCD, umm.. it would be just suitable for music.
Anyway, I'll try it out first.

I like this design... any news on when it is for sale? I've seen eBay, and they are about $70 now.
